If you could provide evidence to these claims, I'd gladly change my opinion.
"Illuminati did it" reasoning otherwise p. much.

You're kidding right? Do yourself a favor and wiki Martin Scorsese. Look how long it took him to win his FIRST best director Oscar. And on that note how Dicaprio hasn't won any yet is a travesty. But yeah, the academy definitely rewards people who have been left out lmao.lol you keep telling yourself that. The Academy is notorious for rewarding something/someone if they have been previously left out. Thats not to say Return of the King didn't deserve the awards, but it was also the academy making up for snubbing the first two films.
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
The Color of Money
Goodfellas
Cape Fear
Casino
Gangs of New York
The Aviator
None of those won Scorsese a best director nod.
I made the statement about the 3 films being treated as 1 and ROTK winning all the awards because the 3 films were shot together. Most films and their sequels aren't shot at the same time. All 8 Harry Potter movies were shot like a year apart save for the last 2, but LOTR's was shot together over the course of 9 years or so. When you watch the extra behind the scenes stuff in the extended editions, they (the actors and Peter Jackson) talk about how the second last scene where they get on the boat to leave Middle Earth was the first scene they actually shot in the entire film series.
That's why the first 2 films didn't win anything. Because when the third was released, the Academy recognized the nominations of the third as a representation of the Franchise as a whole. Because they were all conceived, written and shot together with the entirely same Cast, Crew, pre-production and post-production staff within the same period of time.
Which is why movies like the Avengers series will never get summed up as a whole. And I agree with Brill entirely. The Avengers is a very fun film to watch. It's entertaining if you're a big fan of the series, and even if you're not. But it is very one-dimensional and the story just isn't that great.
all of those movies were great, how goodfellas/taxi driver/gangs didn't win anything is way beyond me. goodfellas is one of the best of all time
edit: and raging bull
Radio host was debating what was better The Godfather or Goodfellas. I had to go with The Godfather just because without it there would never have been a Goodfellas.
I think it was Dances with Wolves that beat out Goodfellas iirc.
*EDIT
Apparently Chicago beat out Gangs of New York, Pianist, LotR Two Towers, and The Hours back in '02 LoL
WOW. That's sad.
Should just name it the Daniel Day-Lewis award tbh.
His pants were too silly to give him an award.

I remember reading he studied like crazy for that role. He looked into old newspaper articles, poems, and a wax cylinder recording from the late 1800's in order to recreate the accent from back then.
Everyone role he takes he gets into like that though. Guy is like the real life Kirk Lazarus.

EXCLUSIVE: Marvel’s 2014 Movie Revealed!
take as salt etcThey’ve been buying up domain names as we rapidly approach Comic Con, everyone knows Marvel is about to drop a movie-bomb on us and now, Latino Review knows what it is.
Usually good old Da7e is trotted out of his studding pasture to talk to you about comics he knows something about, this – however – is bit out of my league and, of course, out of THIS WORLD.
Marvel’s plan has been 2 superhero movies in their Unified Film Universe each year. Next year will bring us the new entries into the ‘Thor’ and ‘Iron Man’ and 2014 will bring us ‘Captain America 2′ and…
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.
The Marvel comics universe is called 616. Long story, just accept it. The Guardians of the Galaxy are a team of superheroes from the future of Universe 691. There, an evil alien race called the Badoom is trying to take over the universe. And then the Badoom create the Korvac, and… don’t worry, we have until 2014 to slowly educate ourselves on Guardians of the Galaxy.
The important thing is, at some point, the Guardians get all time-hoppy and jet back to the 20th century (yes, 20th. Probably the 21st in the movie universe) to meet with the Avengers and fight some aliens.
The Guardians have been made up of several third-tier Marvel characters in the past and a Volume 2 reboot that took place in 2008. I’m going to save myself a lot of copy-and-paste and link to the wikipedia list of Guardians here. You probably haven’t heard of most of them.
What else do we know about Guardians of the Galaxy?
- It will be announced as Marvel’s second 2014 movie at Comic Con
- Thanos is in it.
- It will “lead up to” The Avengers 2 in 2015.
- ”THE SCRIPT IS INCREDIBLE”
So let’s parse some of that.
One: The end credits scene at the end of The Avengers was both a teaser for ‘Avengers 2′ AND ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’
Two: The Guardians being added to the Unified Universe means the theorhetical chronological order of Marvel Unified Movie Universe Phase 2 is: ‘Iron Man 3′ ‘Thor 2′ ‘Captain America 2′ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ Hulk gets the shaft.
Three: If I were to point you in the direction of a comic to read to theorize what Guardians of the Galaxy would be about, I’d suggest you go buy The Thanos Imperative.
Four: Nova. Expect Nova. There’s got to be a reason that Nova keeps showing up in stuff like Disney’s Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvel’s AvX. He’s not a Guardian per se, but he’s the most recognizable Marvel space character to the all-important “we’re young and buy toys” demographic.
Cool?
Sounds pretty damn out there for a movie. Which means if it works, Marvel will know they can do just about anything so long as they do it right and people will go for it. So I hope this works well. And damn at the speed they'll be churning out movies pretty soon. 3-4 movies a year maybe? Fuck yes. If only Marvel could get X-men and Spiderman. And shit, The Punisher could be an amazing TV series or movie if done by the right people, he's probably the most "normal" of the Marvel superheroes.
The only problem with Guardians of the Galaxy is that while it was in it's hey day it was never even close to approaching the popularity of the mainstream Marvel titles. That alone could turn off a lot of people to this. I'll still be checking it out day one but I would be lying if I said I knew everyone on the Guardian's roster.

I love how they cater to the nerds and just run rampant with ideas at Marvel.
