Strep throat vs Mono

I've never really understood why people say mono is so terrible, when I had it I slept for like two weeks straight, I hardly even remember anything. Strep throat though whenever I get it is like two weeks of insane pain and not being able to eat or sleep and blahhhh. I'd say strep is worse than mono personally.

I guess this depends on the person.
when i got mono it was right at the beginning of spring when my schedule went crazy with conditioning and plans for outdoor concerts. to top it off it was very painful and took me down to 88lbs by time i was starting to feel better.
strep throat on the other hand, easy peasy with a few days off of work.

you got pussy mono or one of the flu varients that isnt real mono

when I had mono I was sleeping for 18ish hours a day for almost the entire duration, shit was terrible

If you get the flu variant of mono does the still produce the antibodies to help prevent you from getting mono later in your life?

I guess I'm improving a little. I can see white gunk all over my throat now, and it seemed like the swelling was going down, but it feels like its coming back. I did eat a little bit, but I kept choking too, it was awesome.

Anyway, I'll stick with the antibiotics and "resting", and maybe see if I can find B12 around the house.

If the antibiotics haven't done anything for you within a week, they're not going to do anything for you now.

I have had strep throat enough to just deal with it... Long term issues with tonsils - I actually should have them removed but it is a matter of taking the extra time off of work. I get strep throat at least once, if not twice a year.

College doctor did blood test and it was positive for mono. They also gave me steroids, so while my body eats away my fat, my muscles can become huge like xbox.

Also got a doctors note to get out of heavy lifting at work and PT for army class 'cause I'm a lazy mofo

Is that what those type of steroids do?

I remember when I was in high school I got a nasty case of poison oak. Doctor gave me a prescription for oral steroids and the rash seriously was almost gone within a few days.

No, I think they're some kind of immunosuppressor*. I've had the same kind (prednisone) for poison ivy a bunch because I get it really bad for some reason. They're really disgusting tasting, but after 1 dose, some food, and an incredibly awesome sneeze, I feel much better than I did all week.

*I have no medical knowledge. Except that its not lupus.
