Might be rough this year, last year was extremely crowded and I'm not sure that PAX East is going to take enough pressure off the west coast attendance numbers.

I missed East, was too late on registration; thinking about making prime instead, would be my first ever.

Somebody talk me into it :D

I guess one of the biggest questions I'd have is, is there time to see everything?

I mean like do they have a lot of overlapping panels/events that are on opposite sides of the places that would be impossible to just see all the organized shit (if you wanted to) or is there enough breathing room? Exhibition hall(s) and the rooms where people hook up their own shit to play not included.

I doubt I'd want to see everything but having to choose would suck. Not that it's a huge consideration but something that keeps nagging me, and the pax site doesn't keep archives of the old schedules.

Never been to prime, but at east there were 3 theatres which all had overlapping panels. And then if you're a tourney player you have to consider that too.

The only things that you are likely to miss are early omegathon rounds, most of the tournaments and any movies going on, because those tend to conflict with big developer presentations (BioWare, Bethesda, etc) and the concerts.

The panels that are very hard to get into are create a strip, and the mike/jerry talks, so if you want to see them you'll have to leave something else and line up very early. The other panels don't really fill up that fast, even the fun ones like 'pitch your game.'

I always found a lot of time to just do whatever I wanted, including exploring Seattle (I rent cars when I go up) and hanging out with IRL friends who also attend. Last year was genuinely the best year I've had at PAX and I don't feel like I missed out on a whole lot. Going to be hard to top.

That helps, thanks. Are the hotel offerings listed on the PAX site the best bets for the area given that they're discounted for the event or are there better options?

All of the listed hotels are pretty much equal. The more expensive ones aren't necessarily your best bets. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza (which is actually mislabeled on the map they provide) last year and it was perfect; you could walk to the convention and enter at the 3rd floor of the center without going up or down any hills, provided you figured out the shortcut around the law offices and enter the hall at 7th/Union. I think my first year I stayed right at the Sheraton, which was nice and expensive but I couldn't find an entrance to the convention center besides the first floor, which is a little bit of a pain.

The first U.S. hands-on, playable Guild Wars 2 demo will be at PAX. Reason enough for me to regret living on the east coast.

    Schedule is out.

Help me out on something though: the wristbands for concerts. Are they handed out to the people ATTENDING the first main theater event each morning or is it a separate lineup?

Not really, they have people walking around the big room where everyone lines up to get in to the exhibition area handing out wrist bands on the first day. After that they're just kinda around when people are lined up for stuff. You don't need a wrist band though. At least in my 2 years of going, I never bother to get one but still go to the concerts.

Flying out with the bf and his dumbass friend next Thurs and staying at the sheraton across the street from the event. Who wants to hang and grab some beers??????

Also wtf @ the main theatre being 4 blocks away this year ugh.

    P.S. Friday, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Main Theatre
    Square Enix

    Details TBA

    going to that for sure
