My contract is up in feburary next year, so I'll have to balance everything out. I hate Verizon so much for their deceptive business practices, but I can't argue with their coverage in my area. They have 3G towers all along I-20 in Texas, and the two cities I'm actually in are just off that, so I'm in full coverage 98% of the time. (Although part of that is due to Altell (god I miss them.))

Sprint has the best plans by a country mile though. So much cheaper than Verizon's or AT&T's. Coverage in my area area looks the same via their maps, but that doesn't mean that it is in the real world.

The only annoying thing about my TP2 though is how hot it'll get while in the router mode. If the damn thing would boot up without the battery I'd just do that, but the place where I use it the most has cold, cement floors. (Go go makeshift "heatsink.")

Until I see the battery life I'll hold my judgment.

Too many times have I seen 4 hour Smart phone bricks with "top end" specs.

Still need to see the battery life on the Evo too. I'm a person that is always on the move, I don't have time to charge my phone throughout the day.

Oh I forgot to ask, I assume this is 3G only? That's one of the main things I'm seeing that the EVO really shines. Not to mention that the EVO has dual cameras (front and back). Still the incredible is a damn good phone for verizon, or if you don't live in a 4G area.

Yeah its only 3G at the moment. The EVO 4G steps all over this phone. Both of them are CDMA which means Verizon/Sprint onry. I was considering importing a Desire but then I read that the 3G doesnt work on US networks so that kinda turned me off to it. ;x

Maybe HTC did their other phones differently, but my Touch Pro 2 came with a Verizon SIM for non CDMA networks. I'm kinda shocked if that functionality isn't available on their other phones.

Its not on every phone iirc. I'm almost ready to jump the gun on the HTC Droid Incredible... Might eat an ETF on T-Mobile and get new contract with Verizon. Would be quite the upgrade from my current rooted/modded G1. I could then use that until the EVO 4G comes out and someone makes it work on Verizon - shit is bound to happen. ;o

I need a SnapDragon in my life.

For what purpose? when they decide to actually roll out 4g in your area? Otherwise just get the incredible. As small as verizons rollout was on FIOS, I'm really not expecting a huge insanely fast rollout on 4g. Also I'd be surprised if Verizon didn't nickel and dime you on a "more expensive 4g plan" to go with your new "4g" phone, or put a stupid cap on it like they normally do.

That's one reason I've stuck by sprint, even if they use lolWIMAX, at least I'm going to be locked in at TRULY unlimited.

    Evo releases in november..

I hate to say it but working for sprint I've sold a bunch of HTC phones lately.. they've been lacking in performance.

HTC Touch Pro broke so many times they started giving people free upgrades to the touch pro 2

HTC Hero is so laggy and freezes so much.

I can only imagine the Evo following the pattern.

Never had a problem with my touch pro 2... guess I chose a good phone. You can't really think sprint is the only one having problems with HTC phones? sup nexus one? HTC is not a bad company, but they are by no means perfect. If anything HTC's fuck ups with the nexus one should prepare them to release a much better evo.

Agreed with the snapdragon comment. While my phone isn't BAD, it's certainly CPU limited.

The touch pro 2 hasnt had any problems that ive seen so far except an oily residue building up under the screen. It was the touch pro one that had the problems with the screen getting stuck sideways and the keyboard going out.

Yea I know the problems arent limited to sprint, thats just what I see come into our store.

Can you do this on sprint?

Kinda annoyed with winmo but don't have better options on sprint atm (blackberry options are shit too) ;/

Edit: Nevermind, I'm dumb, the OP was talking t-mobile.

I had a laundry list of physical problems as well as a lot of annoying software problems with my touch pro despite me loving it.

Took advantage of the free upgrade to the TP2 and love this phone. I've had it for 3 months now and might have had to restart it maybe 3 times.

So in my quest to obtain a SnapDragon I scored myself a 2 week old Nexus One that someone let me get for 450. All original packaging/accessories. Pretty happy about that. Gonna root it on Tuesday and install the HTC Desire Rom on it. May even overclock it for lulz. Someone will most likely release a Droid Incredible ROM sometime soon. I void warranties. :D

If I feel like upgrading somewhere down the line - which I will lol. I'll just sell it for 490 and get another phone. XD

Reds and oranges, in particularly, look overwhelmingly saturated here, and other colors aren't truly represented. It's just too colorful, if you can believe it. Another somewhat major issue that we struggled with on the Incredible (just as we did on the Nexus One) was the awful screen visibility in bright daylight. We had numerous occasions where we simply could not answer a call or take a picture due to the AMOLED display's poor showing outdoors. In overcast settings (such as the one above) it was usually bearable, and If you crank the brightness all the way up on sunnier days you can get some visibility, though once you're outside and can't see the display, that's a bit of a challenge. In all honesty, we love certain aspects of these screens, but we're perplexed as to why HTC continues to use this same display when it's clear the daylight performance is hamstrung.

we found battery life to be good, but not outstanding. In comparison to the Nexus One, it seemed to fare a bit worse; we could get through a day, but things were down to the wire by the end of the night.

Overall a pretty good review, battery life sounds ok, needs some real testing, worse than the nexus one is not really a good thing however. (Nexus one advertized 5hours using 3g)

On the downside: all this hardware bling is an energy hog. The screen will self adjust brightness and Google is smart about turning down the processor when it’s not being used. But I’ve found battery life to be woefully brief, even by iPhone standards. Officially the phone has up to 7 hours talk time, 250 hours standby, 5 hours of 3G Internet use, 7 hours of video playback and 20 hours of audio playback. Unofficially, I was able to kill the fully charged battery with 1.5 hours of continuous gameplay (Robo Defense) on the full-brightness screen. Be prepared to keep this phone near a charger at all times. You can easily view what’s using the battery, though (the screen is 71% of my current usage), and then adjust the hardware or software usage to maximize battery life.

Guess we will see what more info/testing shows, just hope the Evo does not use the same screen, if there is really that much trouble viewing it outside... (sunlight is half the day!)

Pretty sure they advertised the HTC EVO with a Super Amoled screen. Or was that the Samsung Galaxy S and that other phone? Anyways Super Amoled looks amazing even when getting hit with direct sunlight. Much better than an iPhone in light/dark areas.

Going to pretend I need a hardware keyboard, because I like my Droid.

    Droid Incredible is.. incredible, though.

I've read in a few places that the EVO has a TFT LCD screen.

Good news if true! No screens perfect, but at least on the TP2 I can change the brightness and read it in the daylight with little problem.

Yeah, I'd much prefer a screen that works well outdoors in sunlight.
