Latest WOTG mission discussion (Mega spoilers)

I've found a few other random WotG cutscenes, but not the whole story. That's why I uploaded those last two. If there is any interest I'd consider uploading the rest of the mission cutscenes for everyone. I can also upload the Windy [s] storyline, but again only if there is any interest for it.

I would definitely appreciate the wotg stuff beyond the last update... I quit before these missions. Howl was awesome stuff (glad I did it in person).

I actually really liked the story... just don't have time to play the game anymore.

He says it's true that the Beastmen actually won the War, but that Lillissette and everyone from our universe are still "real", and not to think otherwise. Whatever that means. Magic solves all silly plot holes!

Well she was saying its a alternate universe, they still exist and they are real just like lilith and the people from the past/that future.

The impression I got from it was that it branched at the moment Lilith intervened to entice Porta and Regalise into accepting Odin's pact. Thus setting off the "alternate" universe.

Also it seemed like there's more to it than we know. I don't think it's really true that our universe is a "fake" Vana'diel like Lilith's side says. It seems more like because of the actions of Cait Sith and Atamos our two universes are going to battle to the death to see which one gets to remain the "true" existence.

Hm, but what im more trying to sort out is what happened in the original timeline before anyone meddled with anything.

From what ive read (really need to finish storyline missions @@) and some of this is probably wrong but:

Everything up to the Crystal War is the same in both universes. (SL gets his Demons and his look for freeing Odin from the protocrystal in Xarcabard etc etc.)

Allied Forces engage the Beastmen Confederate and things go poorly leading the decisive loss at Xarcabard.

Allied Forces eventually lose the war, SL becomes ruler.

Altana basically duplicates vanadiel, one in her image and leaves the original timeline be. Everyone is thus duplicated and "our" timeline plays out where the Allied Forces win, Lilisette is born and Ragelise dies (anyone care to fill me in on how he died in the "good" future?)

Meanwhile in the original future, whats left of the rebellious Aliiance forms a desperate pact with Odin in order to try to turn the tables on the SL.

Ragelise/Portia make the pact and thus Lilith gains the powers being their daughter? The Spitewardens are all people loyal to Ragelise/Portia/Liliths cause.

The Cait Sith are awakened in order to create that alternate future for Altana (gee she doesnt like doing much of anything herself) and the slumbering Atomos is planned by them to be used in order to erase Liliths future. Caits plan involved using people (the player, Lilisette etc) who believed they were from the one, true future to alter the events of time and thus swing Atomos towards devouring Liliths future.

This causes maws to open in the alternate future (player/lilisettes future) and Lilith's future giving Lilith + Spitewardens an opportunity to also change the past to not be the current future where the SL reigns nor Altana's future but one where she reigns eternally as Odin's knight and ruler of the world?

(So one question I had was... was it all Cait Sith Ceithirs doing that Lilith/Spitewardens knew so much about the alternate Vanadiel? or something else im missing?)

All of this has all but damned Altana's future to being devoured by Atomos (she's already erased Lilisette) but does this not put Liliths world in jeopardy too? If she intends to create a new one via changing the events to suit her and not the SL or was that all apart of the plan?

You know it makes me wonder how kamnalaut and that kid didn't become more involved in that real future considering they wanted to get rid of the shadow lord because of the "noise" he was causing.

Kam'lanaut is present while the allied forces are planning the attack on Xarc. He doesn't say anything, he just watches. Also, his shorter brother with an eye patch isn't there during this meeting, dunno why. I'm uploading the rest of the video's right now and that specific video should be up within the next few days.

The only way I can read the text on youtube is to view it in full screen. Idk if you tried this yet or not, but it really helped me.

Well yeah I remember seeing him in the CS, I just mean why they wouldn't mention anything in regards to him about the future since he was scheming the whole time and couldn't complete due to the Shadow Lord. Idk about him dying, they were both pretty tough but it could be possible they were part of the small group to forge a pact with Odin. W/e just a geek moment lol. Also makes me wonder what happened to Aht Urghan and if they got involved etc, eh just speculating.

I got the impression that Abyssea is just a featureless void between the two realities or something.

But I suppose taking the [S] areas and adding a few extra beastman flags/skulls/craters and damaging/getting rid of the Allied forts would also be rather easy for SE.

I got to say when it comes to WotG I am split.

The whole story behind the scenes and all the new character additions to the storylines are great. Probably the best storyline for FFXI yet.

However when it comes to retelling events we know transpired... it is a huge disappointment. The Battle of Jeuno - the extremely charismatic Kam'lanaut who lead the battle on the front lines was just a sham? REALLY? (That whole character is one big missed opportunity. Same with his brother.) Motherfucking KINGSLAYER Doggvegg doesn't even get a custom model OR RIDE HIS BUGARD? He gets killed way before the final battle of Xarcabard(perhaps he is still alive, he did fall into a pit lol)? Probably others that I have forgotten. Some of them can be excused with "history has changed" or something, but some of it is just lazy. It is too bad because other half of the storyline is great. Evil-Me made say "oh fuck!" out loud! Haven't done for a game in a long time.

Found a little something of interest. Zone text data has a debug for reviewing events and distinguishes between a version for having both ToA and WoG or just WoG only. I included the text before and after it just for context.

Actually wasn't Kingslayer spirited away to Temenos along with most of the other beastmen that are forever stuck in those zones?

Im sure the bugard things would be summed up by SE as PS2 limitations but yeah, in the Altana timeline he seemingly vanished from the pages of history.

There's no reason to think Temenos works like Dynamis or something. There is basically no explanation for Limbus.

Sure there is- Temenos is just deeper corridors of the palace, while Apollyon is essentially Promyvion-Al'tieu.
