    y/y?
I know a woman in the Air Force that probably out-ranks all of the military people on this forum

I think, in all fairness, women should be eligible for the draft, same as men. We have the right to vote, to work, to do anything men can do and that should include being called to war in our countries time of need. I am for a good ass kicking when someone has it due, but I wouldn't exactly say I am pro-conflict. It depends on the circumstances. I tried to sign up for the Army when I turned 18, but I got denied. I would have loved to serve in the armed forces.

This isn't an issue of "rights" as I'm pretty sure women have just about equal rights to do anything that men do (especially if they bitch about it enough, yuk yuk). This is a question of equality in all aspects and in a specific aspect which is conveniently dismissed for whatever anti-men reason they come up with when confronted. Military draft registry is a duty to male citizens who are eligable (aka: most men). The fact that women are not required is a nod to the concept that women are mothers and are there to raise children while the boys go do all the dangerous, dirt, and hard work.

The fact that women will never argue for being part of draft registration and that the only ones who would bring it up are men (or awesome/realistic girls) is the end of the argument right there.

In all honesty, the reasons why some people are not eligible for drafting ties to things regarding family/disabilities/etc. and women are at the core of any concept of "family" (and "disabilities," lol).

    It won't.

Regardless, the military doesn't really want us. We can't be sent into direct combat, and many (if not most) of the male military personnel I know don't really care for having women as a part of the armed forces anyway because of all the special provisions they require and special breaks and clauses that apply to them. Men are just cheaper to deal with, easier to care for, and much more versatile as soldiers/sailors/marines/whathaveyou.

If anything I think drafting women might provoke some hostility from the people who would otherwise have had cushy desk jobs or been safely nestled inside the protective walls on base, who are now pushed out to combat because some boot-ass motherfuckers who can't even do most of the dangerous shit have taken their place. I don't think that would actually be said out loud, but a lot of people would think it.

Yeah, every single woman should be given no other option than this or some other menial bullshit, since you want it and all. God those feminists -- WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

Yeah then when your man kicked you out on the street, you either found another man or starved. Norly, there are lots of women that do the cook/clean thing, most have children however.

Is being elligible for a draft a right or is this entire premise stupid?

Make no mistake: most women were not "kept" women. Only the upper class and some of the upper middle class could afford to have a wife stay home and do nothing. It's just that your options for work were severely limited to positions that would not pay much (and pay more to a man if he were doing the work) and gave you very minimal power over anything or anyone else. The chances of you staying home and spending your man's money while doing nothing is incredibly tiny. Hope you enjoy doing even more domestic bullshit work like sewing and ironing to make ends meet!

I was under the impression that general was incredibly serious business, lest the thread suffer the horrible fate of being moved to spam for being too silly.

Maybe its a right to not sign up? Right is the wrong word. More of a requirement. Why are national requirements not extended to an entire population of sexes are, in fact, equal?

But in all seriousness. I don't mine registering for the draft. Hate bitches who use the "I can't go to war because I won't do any good because I'm a woman" excuse. Especially the ones that just pretend to hate war for solely being on the bandwagon. Fuck those bitches. Fuck everything.

    Fuck you.

Because when it comes to the military, they are, in fact, not.
