    CPU Usage + Youtube

So yeah.. starting a while ago, my CPU Usage all the sudden sky rocketed while watchinig youtube videos. Any video, really. For example, a 720p HD video that normally wouldn't mess with it too much now takes it to 90%+ on an AMD Phenom II X3720 @2.8GHz. I know flash/youtube can cause more CPU usage than normal, but that's just ridiculous and I have zero clue why it's doing it. Any ideas? Has this issue happened to anyone else?

Sorry. Forgot to mention it was Firefox. Latest version. Only extensions I use are Adblock and noscript.

So I ran my virus scanners/malware scanners over night, came back.. nothing found, and problem still happens. Basically whenever a 720p (or 1080p) video is loading, my CPU usage hovers around 75%-97% and fluctuates greatly. Then when the video stops loading, it goes down to about 45-60%, but still..

Also, for some reason, it seems to effect how how my CPU gets too. Yesterday, I remember going to watch a video and my CPU Cores going from around 38C to 42-43C.. then as soon as I closed the youtube video, the temps drop. This doesn't happen when I'm watching stuff through Media Player Classic as the highest my CPU will go there is around 30% and that's on 1080p videos.

Anyway, any help will be appreciated.

Would that be the Shockwave Flash Player 10.0.32.18 whatever? If so, how would I go about that?

Just remove both the ActiveX and Plugin entries from your add/remove programs, then reinstall via the adobe website.

Hrm.. I don't see the ActiveX plugin anywhere, though I see the flash player plugin.

I had this problem before, and it was actually my antivirus software screwing things up. It was trying to actively scan the videos as they were buffering. I ended up having to find a new antivirus program.

Not really the answer to your problems, but if you have an Nvidia GPU you can also use the newest version of Flash (10.1) which pushes alot of the processing over to your GPU.

Tried closing out my virus scanner just to check and no luck. While 720p videos are loading, it still goes 70-95% or so.
