    Dollar coin rolls scam?

I usually look this shit up myself but I was actually curious if this dollar coin roll shit is a scam. Whenever I google it I get hit with "their" websites and get no information about these infomercials my grandmas friend was looking into these and I'm the smart guy so she asked me to find more about this and I just cannot find anything on it accept their websites saying its perfectly secure and all this good shit (Of course its all good) even typing scam doesn't help.

Are these dollar coin roll things a scam like most infomercials or is it legit (rare in infomercials)?

There's some shit on TV that disguises itself as a fake news thing with information about presidential dollar coins then they go on to talk about their collectors value and how they will only go up and blah blah blah I can't find their website I will have to wait for the commercial:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHaPrnDpZPs

Shit like that except its an actual infomercial selling the same thing etc. Is it worth it?

The one's sold on infomercials typically (from what I've seen) aren't minted at a real united states mint. Some arbitrary company makes a coin, they call it a collector's item, and sell it. You'll notice in the fine print on the infomercials that it'll say "coin not associated with an United states government mint", etc and so on.

If a commercial tells you its a collectible, they are lying 100% of the time.

There will never be an advertisement with a real collectible coin because they would never sell any. Coins such as the Carson City:

These sell for roughly $500~ if I remember correctly. No one other than a private collector would pay that much for a coin. These commercials are aimed at making thousands of cheap coins and then selling them as quickly as possible to people who believe they are making a good 'investment'.

What I've seen most of those coin infomercials do is advertise a commemorative replica of a rare coin. And talk about how the (real) coin will be worth a lot. So buy a fake one today, to commemorate the real one's value!

This is the presidential dollars from 2007.

    It's not fake.

It's $12 worth of coins stuck in a plastic roll and "certified" for $200, though.

It's a scam. The coin itself is worthless, and remember that it's being sold en masse on national tv, so it's not like it's ever going to be rare or valuable.

edit: Well ok, the you-tube video you linked is different from the ones I thought you were referring to. But certification value? If it were worth 600 bucks they wouldn't be selling it for 200 on tv to whoever calls in. It's not an investment.

    They're not "worthless."

They're literally circulated $1 coins made in bulk for national use. I have a few in my coin jar upstairs.

I'm not exaggerating or anything at all when I say it's literally exactly $12 worth of coins.

Maybe 15-20 since those specific ones aren't being printed anymore and they're in mint condition. You can go to the bank and trade in for ones just like em that have been used.

Dollar coins suck. They shouldn't be collected by anyone. I mean really, how are you supposed to put that into a g-string? Unless you can use the vajayjay like a coin slot...
