Same circle of friends since gradeschool, so yeah, we BS about the movie for a few minutes afterwards, then just leave. Do stuff every other day or so, so the whole movie thing isnt exactlly important.

Not surprising, I'm with Skirkle. I can't go out to eat alone, and have never gone to the movies alone. Even when I was a kid and went with my family-- we'd split up and my mother would take my little brother to some fucking Teletubbies movie or some shit and I'd rather sit through that then go to a different screening alone. And I'm always one of those jackasses making snide remarks just under their breath during movies, so usually me and whoever I'm with find ways to amuse ourselves at the most inappropriate times. (My favorite was still bursting out laughing during a St Judes commercial right before the movie and having the entire theatre look at us though)

If I'm hungry and want to eat out, I won't go alone. I just really hate doing anything by myself, everything is enhanced by having actual people to go with? idk maybe I just don't like being a LOSER. I love fine-dining and all, gives me an excuse to dress up, etc. But gussying myself up to sit alone is just depressing, I don't care about the food so much as the whole shebang-- what am I doing there chatting up my server? (servress for you political correct faggots) a nice dinner conversation with someone makes the experience for me, just as the stupid jokes before, after, and during the movie make it; as does the small talk afterward

idk bro i think people are usually generally social creatures, and you're only finding a bunch of people who think its normal to go to dinner/movies alone is because you're on a vidyagame forum

Yeah I've never really been in this situation though, if I dont have friends to go see a movie with it's not worth the money to see the movie because I'm not spending time with my friends. Just kind of the way I perceive it.

i think it's equally pathetic to be afraid to go somewhere alone as it is to only go places alone. if my friends don't want to see a particular movie, i don't just miss it because i don't have someone to bring. if i'm out by myself doing errands and i want to stop and eat lunch, i'm not going to avoid doing it because i'm afraid the people around me will form some kind of opinion about me eating alone. that's really sad.

I think we are talking about different things. You don't make dinner plans just for yourself do you? I can't imagine making a reservation for one at a real restaurant. Stopping on the way back from errands doesn't strike me as the same thing as dinner plans for 1.

And I don't miss movies simply because people don't want to see them, I just miss going to the theatre to see them. (torrents, etc.) Oddly enough, I'll go to a real theatre before a movie theatre alone. Not to mention I can't think of any movies I wanted to see that I didn't know someone else interested. :s

I think you're needlessly hitting an extreme when talking about fine dining, Rocl. For the most part, everyone here is talking about their local dives while you're on some place where you're eating fois gras with a glass of 15yr vintage wine.

i mostly agree, but there are a couple of places around here that are expensive but worth it. it also depends on what you consider expensive. i consider spending more than $100 for 2 people to be pretty expensive, but melting pot and texas de brazil cost that much or more and are totally worth it now and then.

Expensive, to me, is dropping 70+ just on an entree, with no sides.

I can deal with steakhouses and whatnot.

Don't get me wrong, I love the food, I just cannot justify the price outside of special occasions.

Most of my meals when I'm just picking something up to be fast consist of about $4-5 at Wendy's or Little Caesar's or something. Even if I go to a restaurant I usually get something under $10, or $15 at the most.
