You heard wrong. It is the greatest game in the past ten years, and completely revolutionizes the genre.

I wish i still had my kohan quote.
Kohan really was incredibly on point.
I wish to make the sex with Kohan
TREY 4 LIFE
I agree with the overall message, but not every specific point. Excluding one sentence I agree completely with the concluding paragraph
I liked the music, I liked the story, I liked the characters, et cetera all as I've said in the past before. But the actual game is very lacking.Ultimately, this latest addition to the Final Fantasy series is a pompous and masturbatory affair, created seemingly to promote the developer's ego first, and the player's enjoyment second. Every now and then its fights can approach satisfying, but mostly this is a dull, dreary affair that is too busy licking its own arse to look up and notice that everybody around it has fallen asleep. Written with all the skill of a three-year-old and paced with the eagerness of a virgin in heat, Final Fantasy XIII isn't just bad by Final Fantasy standards, it's pretty damn poor for the genre itself.
Let's hope they only emulate the good qualities then, that being the stunning visuals and level design (less level design as they're all linear but more like... environment design). Although I'll agree that the characters weren't very in depth I didn't find it hard to connect with them, Sazh was probably the easiest.
Let's hope what they dont emulate is the god awful battle system.
Well said... though I will say that I don't like the fact that with the characters (aside from Sazh, who I feel was very well done) everyone just feels like a character straight out of an anime.
Honestly, I've see all of those other characters before.
I find it laughable that so many people love Final Fantasy (and XIII specifically) yet hate anime when for the most part (XII excluded) they are the same thing.
game would be more better if all of it was more like ch11. instead of running through corridors for 30 hours. that sounds like common sense game design, but i guess not. and goddamn vanille really is a shitbag character and her VA too.
I agree and disagree. I agree it's basically old anime further back then 5-10 years ago. Back when anime were just cartoons for adults that had real stories and in depth characters. But then I disagree because when people say they hate anime they mean today's anime which is all "SORANDUMLOLPANTYSHOT" (for the most part).
I dont know, most characters will fall into some archetype, that's just going to happen because of the nature of storytelling, you can only tell so many stories with different kinds of characters. In this story? Most characters just were developed to different degrees than others, or rather their archetypes required less story telling. Snow? Obvious, doesnt need any further telling. Hope? Obvious, too much story telling for him as there was. The only people that I felt were different were Sazh, Vanille, and Fang. Vanille and Fang were different not because they were Australian or lesbian, but because they were fighting as allies with people who considered them enemies, and they had to come to terms with that. As far as I am in the story that hasnt been explored so much past Vanille just being sad when she thinks about it, but I'm hoping it's expounded upon a bit more, but I'm not holding my breath.
Honestly, bro... Vanille is about as 'current day anime' as it gets.
personality-wise, yes
which is pretty incongruent with her character development/background
And appearance wise. The only way you could get more "current day animay" is if she was in an anime.
In b4 "she is in an anime".
yes, i should have said fanservice-wise instead
Well she is in an anime.
An incredibly long anime with boring repetitious battle sequences inbetween the shows.
Final Fantasy needs to drop the bullshit and put Balthier, Basch, Sazh, Prishe and Al-Cid in a game together with a real storyline.
and horrible voice acting
