    - Once your MP is spent, you cannot recover it through resting
I don't fully understand what he meant there... there's a "resting" mode aside from passive/active? or recovering MP isn't possible just for Thau (we need to come up w/ an abbreviation for this class.. THM?) wtf?

    You always deliver.
    Thanks Elmer!

Perhaps they mean resting is just passive mode.

Physical level could also mean the physical level of the class your playing(Lancer) as. Weapon level, is a level based on the weapon being used in battle, so you get those nice abilities when you level up.

    So example:
    lancer physical lvl4 - stats> agi=11 str=17 vit=8 ...etc
    lance lvl6

"I want to try gladiator now", so you buy a board and shield.
    equip............
    *hear changing equip. effects*

    gladiator physical lvl1 - stats> agi=6 str=6 vit=6 ...etc
    sword lvl1
    shield lvl1

abilities learned from weapons are permanent, those would be in you abilities learned pool and can be place to you choosing in you action slots.

So, you see how it would work everyone. Just my assumption

    Cookie Cutter builds won't be that big of a deal to be honest, and here's why;

    1) I'm going to assume that there will be some kind of cap on stats.

    2) It's a pretty stupid idea if you intend to play multiple classes on one character.

I'm going to be very curious now to see how stats factor into crafting/helm. And as far as Luck goes, I would wager it's critical hits and maybe the odd ability like Steal. Please SE, keep it the fuck out of crafting. Actually I would rather that your attributes be removed from crafting entirely so that it's only influenced by skill & the tools you use.

No more bullshit H.Q. system like we have in XI, please that shit that just ruins it for everyone.

I'm failing to see the difference in Luck affecting HQ rates and not drops, though. Both essentially create new items, and everyone will want their desired items as quickly as possible. While I'm certainly for throwing crafters a bone, I'd say that's more a matter of letting the farmers provide materials more often than finished products.

You know what. I think there is a tab for accessories we are not seeing yet. I remember in the interview they said, they wanna have so detailed that you could see the rings on your fingers and earrings and neck pieces too. Will see tomorrow. I am certain, that there is another tab.

Supposedly, the only way to recover MP is through abilities or touching an Aetheryte point. I believe they mentioned there being a /heal function only usable while in Passive Mode that lets you recover faster.

Some of the particulars are hard to discern without more explanation from SE.

They keep saying how you can change classes by just swapping weapons wouldn't you be pretty set in what roles you can play when you pick your attributes. Say if you geared it more toward playing melee put a lot of stuff in to str, dex, accuracy. Couldn't equip a staff then be a good mage cause you won't have int or whatever the main stat is.

Unless there is some easy way to reallocate your stats like you have mutiple sets you can swap to, but then when wanting to change class that be a pain if you had to set them every time.

No, sir. They have been pretty clear that Physical level represents stats, and Skill Rank represents the classes. They are separate. What you allocate with stats and gain in rank doesn't go away when you switch arms, maybe they get capped.

The only way I see it being hyped like SE made it out to be, is if there is no restriction/cap and I could be a glass canon and put all my points in str and attk and forget about anything else.

    That's exactly what I want.

Of course there would need to be a system in place to be able to reset the stats. I'll die in one hit, sure, but I can take you down just as quick! It's like Russian roulette!

Every 2 points into magic stats, 1 point for accuracy!

Still, I hope the cap, if there is one, isn't too restrictive. Free builds is something I like from games like Dark Fall.

No, it's not, but every game (not just MMOs) has their plus sides. Free character growth in that game is pretty the only thing going for it IMO.

Look at the character sheet. The weapon you use gains the skill levels. I f I switch from lvl6-knuckles to a staff I just bought or found, when I equip that staff it would be lvl1skill rank. Now, we know the weapon we equip determines our class(physical lvl). So, wouldn't my class(physical lvl) be a lvl1 staff user along with the physical lvl being a lvl1 as well.

SE said in an interview that the job swapping system would be like ffxi but different in the way it is initiated. We would still be able to level different jobs on one character. So it would have to be close to what I gave as an example or people will end up level'n multiple characters.

-"We need a healer for this next mob coming up"
-"I can change over to priest".
    -"Ok. cool"

    But when I change to priest my stats are still the same as the pugilist I just was? > str39 agi23 vit19 int 6 min6? and still > str39 agi23 vit19 int 6 min6 as a priest?

That doesn't make any sense. Because, if that is the case everyone will be running around with red mage type stats, equal across the board.

Naw can't be. Every weapon, changes you class title to something different. So, logically the physical for that class should change as well. Which would make the job system just like ffxi with everyone loves an adores including me.

Yeah I've been under the impression that your Stats would be reset to base physical level when you switch to a different class you haven't leveled.

No, here's your break in logic.
    Physical Level=Statistical Level.
This is your overall ranking. Think of it like Final Fantasy Tactics. Physical XP grants stat boots, Class EXP grants skills and abilities.

For example, take a Conjurer. Level 5, Skill Level 2.
He decides he wants to punch a bitch. He dons some knuckles.

Pugalist, Level 5, Skill Level 0.

Physical retains, Skill depends on weapon.

    Oh. A familiar name!

All the info so far has been concise in explaining that Physical Level is separate from Skill Rank. They are two different forms of XP, and two different forms of growth. Changing arms doesn't change Physical Level, remember they don't want Arm changing to feel like you're moving backwards like the FFXI complaints.

In far back interview Tanaka or Komoto said they were debating weather or not to let people be a "jack of all trades". It doesn't look like that is what they have decided.

It would be absurd to assume that we wont be able to re-do our stats, but I wonder how easy it will be? As simple as changing arms or touching Aethyrite? Or will we have to re-grind to get our Physical Level back up?

And once again, if we go by your idea everyone will have to have red mage like stats. Because, with your physical staying the same no matter what class you decide to switch to next week in the end you gonna end up with red mage type stats unless you are telling me you are going to play pugilist for a month decide to change to conjurer and still pump stats into str agi and maybe some vit. Your not gonna be a very effect mage.

Tactics is a very good example and I'm glad you brought it up. When you changed from a level 59 squire to a lvl1 Geomancer you physical stats went back to the lvl1 stage. So if you think of it that way then you'll understand my thinking and see it will be implemented in the same way for ffixv.
