It's a shame SE never followed through with complete Gilgamesh mythos and used Enkidu as a rival in any of FF games. The closest reference are the golems in sky in XI, but only in name.

I'm actually kind of excited by the prospect of finally being able to fight other hyur/elzen/etc as actual mobs instead of almost exclusively monsters.

They have lines. Minor, personality-less characters are still characters in my book.

EDIT: And I would argue that the terrestrials (except maybe Carbuncle and Fenrir) started as "actual" characters. (EDIT2: Well, maybe I'll also concede to the point on Phoenix, too, given that she was always more of a plot element than anything else.)

Since the story starts different depending which city you start in, will city be selectable again, or racially forced?
Will it be possible to play the story of another city on a character you're already completed the story on in a city?

Any race can start in any city.
