New Mouse Time! Razer vs. Logitech

So I've been using a Logitech G5 for years, I swear by it, my sister has the newer version (blue) she loves it...

I've always been interested in a razer however I swear by logitech since I love their mice and keyboard so much, so it's been hard to even try one out.

Friend just got a Razer Lachesis with his new computer, I only got to play with it for 5minutes and just on firefox - it seemed pretty nice although a lot lighter than my G5.

I think I'm going to grab one anyway, since I like the scroll wheel alot better. The thing is, looking through their site, they also have a new mouse out the Imperator. It's a right handed mouse rather than ambidextrous, I'm right handed, it has more DPI, but less programmable buttons (7vs9) but I'm using less than both mice now. Anyone have any opinions on these mice?

I do a lot of FPS games and WoW, running 2 monitors both at 1920x1200.

EDIT: Thread is now a Poll, keep in mind I am changing from a fully weighted Logitech G5v1 that I've used for years and I want to try something different. I do not have the option to try these in stores. I fell in love with the Lachesis scroll wheel because of how easy it was to click compared to my G5.

I didn't ask for that, I asked for opinions on those 2 mice that I linked since I've been using a G5 forever.

If you are looking at Razer, I would strongly suggest the Razer Mamba. Its a little bit more on the expensive side, but 100% worth it.

Ive used tons of different gaming mice (Razer, Logitech, Steelseries) and the Razer Mamba has definitely been my favorite. The wireless freedom is nice and when the battery is running low (rarely does...I can get a full days worth of use with a decent amount of gaming on 1 charge - then I just charge it overnight on the included dock) I can plug it in for wired used.

I use the mamba as well, love it. If mamba is too expensive for your tastes I would look at the deathadder. Same shape/style as the mamba just not wireless and a bit lower dpi

I used a Lachesis for a while and it's a nice mouse, but I definitely prefer the G5. I think the shape is just easier to handle. I wouldn't know about the new right-handed razer though.

If anything, get a Razer Death Adder.

Yeah I was looking around for some hands on reviews and deathadder seems to be pretty popular with mamba being outrageously favored. Maybe I will spend a little more on a mouse this time around, I did it with sennheisers and couldn't be happier. The only question I have is what is the scroll wheel like to press as a button? The Lachesis it was really soft and easy, nothing like my current G5 that I can't even use as a button. It's just too hard and I only use it for scrolling. Is the mamba or adder going to be a comfortable change going from g5? I only somewhat palm the mouse but I guess it's more of a claw grip.

Never used razer mouse before, but I'd recommend you to try the Logitech MX Revolution out. It's really light weight, comfy and the hyper-fast scrolling is just awesome.

Try out the mouse at your local store first before make your final decision.

I have one, it rocks. I don't like wireless mice, I don't ever have a problem with the cord and no batteries to change/making sure it's charged which is nice. It's perfectly responsive and has just enough buttons without being over the top.

Oh and it breathes which is totally sweet. (pulsating light)

I'm convinced Death Adder was one of the best mice ever made. Just the perfect shape for right-handers, particularly for FPS's. MMO players might like more buttons (Not sure which mouse is best for that but I know Razer has their Naga), and RTS players often like smaller and lighter mice, but the Death Adder is just perfect for FPS play. Mamba is essentially the same thing as a Death Adder, except it has a couple more buttons and can switch between wired and wireless.

Some beware though. My brother bought a Mamba at a store some while ago and it has since developed a condition known fondly as squeeky wheel. Oh god is it annoying. Apparently you can fix it yourself if you are so daring to take it apart, but you could probably also just return/exchange with Razer (they seem to have good customer support). Not sure how common an issue it is.

Overall, I swear by Razer, but only the mice I've tried (the two I've listed above). After getting used to an ergo mouse, there's no way I'll switch back to an ambidextrous mouse, but as for the imperator in particular, I really don't know.

edit: Oh I should also mention: the cord for the mamba and second-gen death adders is really awesome (braided fiber cable I think?). I almost want to get rid of my 1st gen Death Adder to get one with that cord, its so sexy.

I've never used an ambidextrous mouse before, and also my G5 has the heaviest weight setting possible - so I'm going to have to get used to a light mouse.

Since Mamba and deathadder seem to be more popular, and made for right handers making them a more comfortable transition, I'll have to go with one of these. The problem is I don't see them in any stores near by, so I'm going to have to make the purchase without playing with either first =/

Could be quite the risk, hence asking here first. Thanks for the advice so far.

Edit: wow so all night I've been reading reviews on pretty much every site/forum. [H]ardforum for one, even amazon reviews. Looks like mamba can have squeek issues and a few other issues, as well as like a 50=50 ratio on love/hate on deathadder. Seems the most popular mice are still the mx518 and G500... I wanted to try something new but after all these reviews maybe I should just stick to what I love and upgrade my G5v1 to a G500. Lol I just noticed I have about 30 tabs open on mouse reviews/info/prices. Amazon is selling a mamba for $109, still an insane price for a mouse. Honestly the main selling point for me right now is the scroll wheel. I hate my G5's, and I loved my friends lachesis... I need to find something more similar to that, and I'm afraid the G500 might not be. Anyone have experience with both? It's really frustrating not being able to try these things out first.

I use a Razer Deathadder on my Desktop and I love the thing. I enjoy it especially because it suits larger hands. i don't find myself as uncomfortable as i do on other mice. Also, I use a Logitech MX518 on my Laptop (old desktop mouse) and it's pretty solid too. iirc, Both the MX518 and the DeathAdder fall in the 50-60 price range too.

I had the squeak issue on the scroll wheel. Chances are you will too but its a very easy fix. You just pop off the top cover and put a tiny dab of silicon grease on the axle and you'll never hear a squeak again. That's the only real problem I've had with the mouse. I followed this guys video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PstjxLJX9rc.

Ok, fuck it, so many opinions to weed through. I trust you guys more than the rest of the internets but holy shit each and every person has a different choice.

My favorite thing about the Lachesis was the scroll wheel, I can probably get used to the shape/weight of a new mouse if it's retarded. But compared to that scroll wheel, I HATE my g5's. So if the G500 or something is comparable to that, then it's a good option. Otherwise I might be shelling out the 110$ for the mamba.

Their website says none in stock, think they might still have it on display?
