There are programs that can make Gen V pokemon, but as far as I'm aware none can make 100% legal/legit-looking pokemon because they haven't figured out all the hidden hex, algorithm and trash byte stuff quite yet. Though they have figured out quite a bit of it. There is quite a bit more to making proper sav'd pokemon outside of the obvious ability, pid, iv type stuff.

If you want to generate gen V pokes then use PokeGen for now (though like I said I won't be surprised to find ones generated now show up illegal in the future after more knowledge is discovered). There is a version of PokeSav that works with B/W, but I don't believe it is translated all the way yet and might be buggy. I imagine the tools/knowledge will pick up in quality substantially in about a month after everyone gets their hands on the NA roms/carts.

It's Pokemon. Not sure how much different it can get. It actually has a plot, so there's that.. but I'm getting it because I get every gen and I can't wait to kick ass in wi-fi battlin' games.

Gonna go out on a limb and say this isn't a game for you lol. If you've not liked any pokemon games then I highly doubt you'll like this one. I don't mean that in an inflammatory way I'm being serious.

Edit: Sorta off-topic, but is anyone else having a lot of time outs/slowness from bulbapedia? It's been terrible for me lately to the point of being unusable.

Man, I'm so far behind. I've had Soul Silver since April last year and just now really starting it. I end up getting stalled thanks to perfectionism rearing its ugly head. Spend too much time catching/breeding/training each pokemon "just right" and never play the game.

I've bought 1 game from each generation except for heartgold/soulsilver, as after Diamond/Pearl it was just a bit boring.
I've never battled other people either as I never really have felt like raising up a high tier pokemon as that just takes way too much time. And I never understood why people would use cheats to instantly create pokemon with stats they want. Why bother play the game at all, if you do that?

I'll probably give in and buy it later, but as of right now, I'm sure Dragon Age 2 will keep me busy, and Dissidia will be my handheld game of choice once that comes out in NA.

I was just wondering if things were different enough in this game to make it feel fresh.

Couldn't tell ya honestly. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I only learned it for the fun of it (it really is quite fun editing all the behind the scenes info trying to make a perfect "legal" one, then again I find web coding fun...). I make things for people if they want, but I always ask them to not trade them as legit or battle with people that don't know they are using sav'd pokes.

The one thing I do on my carts that isn't 100% kosher is make distro carts to distribute events I've missed since owning the cart. Like I was out of town for a couple of months and missed 10th anniversary mew back in the fall so I patched the Deoxys 2008 distro to distribute a clean 100% untouched copy of that mew wondercard to my retail Soul Silver. I don't see any problem with it at all as the game is still generating the pokemon just as it would have if I got the wondercard over WiFi. I also don't play over Wi-Fi or put up anything not caught ingame by me on the GTS. Then again I'm sure somewhere someone will have a problem with doing that with distros somewhere.

Edit: BTW, if anyone ever needs a distro made for them just PM me. As long as I don't get spammed to do a ton it's pretty fun and I don't mind. You'll need 2 DS's to use one and a flash cart. You just run the distro on he flash cart and hit A and it starts distributing it over Wi-Fi just like Gamestop (its a leaked gamestop distro patched to send different items/pokes). The wondercard tells the game which poke to make so your game will still make the pokemon, and therefore be 100% legal and no different from anyone elses.

It can be hard to get to certain stores for events sometimes so perhaps this can help somebody.

Picked up White earlier form Target and they gave me a free $7 game art folio with these postcard sized drawings of various areas, characters, and pokemon from the game. Only a hour or two in so far, but I am really enjoying the battle animations and how the game runs. If I were a little more serious, I'd EV/IV train my pokemon from the start, but I think I'll wait until later when I can actually catch pokemon I would want to lvl to 100 eventually before I go training them correctly.

On the subject I've found that just playing through the game without stressing IV/EVs (I still try for a decent nature) really increases the fun. I spend waaaay too much time trying to perfect them otherwise and miss out on what the game has to offer.

Don't forget you can just ignore EV's and later on vitamin them back to 0 if you really care about the pokemon (for instance I'll be doing this with my event Jirachi since he was lv5 I decided to use him from the start and have fun).

I used pokesav just so I could catch the pokemon from the other version and avoid buying/playing the same game twice in a row. TM codes were a godsend since getting any of the good ones required you to spend hours in the battle tower earning 3 points a pop for something that cost 64 points (Diamond/Pearl).

I'll probably end up buying this eventually since I've bought all the ones before it, just later down the road.

I started with Tepig, but Pansage is soo much more helpful for some reason. On the second gym now, just caught a Throh and a Timburr. Dunno which I wanna level... but "Conkeldurr" is such a hilarious name that I think I'm gonna lean towards the latter. How good is Roggenrola? Was thinking of leveling one.
