Haven't played since Red and Blue, Mewtwo still a badass?

Mewtwo is still a badass.

I couldn't agree more with this. While they're at it lose the current view for fights. Imply an overhead 3D perspective or old school 2D look. That would at least bring some new life into the battle system even if it's just visuals.
Reminds me of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It6xj...os=BbPr--nBJYAI haven't been able to keep up with any of the new pokemon since the original 151, not sure how anyone can keep track of 500+ of them >.>;;
I quit after Yellow myself. I played Gold/Silver on an emulator, but after I had to rollback my PC my time was screwed up on the save file so I just said screw it.
Honestly, an MMO would be stupid because it would probably be the exact same as the normal games just with more people on the screen. Get rid of the atrocious friend code system and maybe make some sort of online random matchmaking and you've got the exact same thing. The only thing that would make it 'worth' being an MMO is if they added multiple trainers in group battles against a single target, and that would be fucking dumb.
Also, if they decide to not make it backwards compatible, they better goddamn add a way to get all the old 493. Or at least all of them except legendaries.
I seriously doubt there will be a Pokemon MMO anytime soon. Since Nintendo is pretty strict about online content.
Then there would be the issue of what to do with rare ones like Mew, Mewtwo, and whatever else since I lost track after Yellow.
You are thinking too small. A pokemon MMO would be amazing, there are already a ton of elements in the handheld games that could be put to use in a MMO. 3D graphics, wild pokemon everywhere, swimming, flying etc all that. Would be alot of fun to me, why not? Today's graphics that could be done easily. Each pokemon with different natures and such, have stat tree growth system instead of pure levels and people can adjust their pokemon based on the tree growth, spending points into different areas etc.
Why do I feel like I've read this same argument for a Pokemon MMO on BG before...oh wait, I have. ~_~
It'll be interesting to see what the new Pokemon Zoroark will be like. In the upcoming movie he has the ability to transform into other Pokemon just like Mew & Ditto. I'm guessing he'll probably be a pure dark type but could be possible he's a Dark/Fighting type.
lol it's been brought up a few times, don't tell me you all wouldn't play it.
I wouldn't if I wanted to have a pet fight for me I'd come back to XI and play BST/PUP/SMN![]()
Eh you would be controlling the pet. Although it would be interesting how that would come out. Either select abilities and it does them and you take turns just like the games or it could be more in-depth and strategical, which would be preferable.
I love how every time they announce a new game, this "Needs more MMO" nonsense starts up again. Talk about a terrible concept though, it wouldn't add anything to the game (it'd actually have to take things out to be functional) and with the gross imbalance in the current lineups of available pokemon, everyone would just be running around with a Garchomp-Tyranitar Sandstorm team.
I feel like we've beaten this Pokemon MMO horse to death and then some in other threads though.
Doesn't have to replicate the handheld games exactly, it would be something new and different. What is so wrong with a pokemon MMO? Aren't you tired of the same old crap every single release, its the same game with different painting. MMO would make things different. I am sure there would be other ways to progress than pure levels in a MMO or it would get dull, obviously competitive battles aren't the only thing to pokemon games, PVE is fun too and you could incorporate that easily into a MMO.
No, I'm pretty sure a pokemon MMO would be about the most horribly dull, repetitive and overall unbalanced game I could imagine.
You must not (or have ever) played Pokemon games in a competitive sense. There's about 30 pokemon right now that curb stomp the ever living shit out of everything that isn't them, a huge imbalance in terms of stat distribution, pokemon with good stats falling by the wayside because of incredibly shallow movepools.. Do I really need to go on?
How, praytell, would you balance a game plagued by these problems, especially in an MMO setting? You talk about keeping it interesting with PvE content - explain to me what exactly a person would have to gain from said content, when we've already established legendaries being uncatchable? Or are you going to go for the "pokemon armor" angle?
There's no system that would possibly make sense for a pokemon MMO. PvE games need rewards based on content, not just mindless grinding against the same shit day in and day out. And if you say "Oh, it's just for the fun", then PvP becomes the real content, which brings the whole topic back full circle to the point of "console game with less features".
It's a stupid idea. You can accuse me of bandwagoning all you want, but I've been saying this for years every time it comes up.
I just don't see how making it an MMO will change the fact that it's been the same old thing for the last decade now. The only major improvement has been the Physical/Special divide that came with the 4th generation. What experience has Nintendo had with MMO's?
The fact that this game is coming to Japan this Autumn worries me that it's just another hasty copy/paste using the 4th Gen engine. They could still surprise us but I doubt we're going to see anything drastically new with Black/White other than new Pokeymans.
