Is there a working emulator/ROMs for these yet? Messed around a bit on diamond a year and a bit ago with an emulator and was pretty fun... hadn't played pokemon at all since gold/silver. Oh, apparently these two versions are more akin to red/blue?

They run fine on No$GBA for me, haven't tried them on anything else. You should be able to find them fairly easily in Google.

edit: They do require an action replay code to run (I think), hopefully wherever you download them has it posted.

Is there anyway to force or make surfing spots happen more often? I want a Lapras but in like 20+ minutes of surfing I've seen one spot and its a 5% chance off the spot...

Desmume and No$GBA work, but you need to find an Action Replay code (no big deal). However, no emulators work on Wi-Fi at the moment.

And yes, it's like Red/Blue, in that the region is isolated; until after you beat the story, you're stuck with the ~150 pokemon native to the region. However, the improvements to the battle system are still intact (Steel/Dark types, reworked resistances and weaknesses, Special Attack/Special Defense split, all the new moves, Physical/Special determination by move rather than by type, and so on). But, there's over a dozen legendaries. Which is a lot more than Gen 1 had, but for once it didn't go up from one gen to the next.

only 20 minutes? I spent around 2 hours, off and on from AFKness to get that fucker. Only thing you can do is keep surfing and hope for the best.

are you using repels? the way I did it was I would run up and down the shoreline until I hear a bubble (which can pop under the bridge, btw, so you could have missed a ton), and then I'd repel, hop in and swim up and down until I run into said bubble. Overall, I probably went through around 35-40 surf spots before finding him, false swiping him to 1 hp and dusk-ball catching him.
