I named my Oshawott "Ocelot" and really wish Revolver would have fit. Revolver Oshawott would be boss.

But yeah.. depends really. Smugleaf is entertaining, but I honestly think Oshawott's better.

Well, I'll have access to all three at some point, obviously. But Smugleaf is lookling like the winner, so far. Are the first couple dungeons particularly anti-grass?

don't worry about gym types when choosing starters, easy to get good typings nearby for each gym in this gen.

I picked Oshawott too, and the massive lack of water-weak pokemon besides Roggenrolla so far is making him only useful for decently strong STAB Razor Shell on water-neutral pokemon. Honestly, going without a water type would be really easy in this game, so far. Granted, I'm barely at the 5th gym and don't have Surf yet, so things may be subject to change.
