I've been able to breed a Gen IV Ditto with a Gen V Modest poke and it's seemed to work out decently. Though maybe it's just luck.

It doesn't eliminate the chance, it just drops it from 50% to 25%.

I don't think I have a favorite. I have a favorite type though, or at least I used too. I used to be all about flying pokemon. I can remember being hooked when I caught my first pidgey in Pokemon Blue. I've been digging the grass and bug type pokemon in this Gen though. Honestly there are too many now for me to pick a favorite.

today is the first day i've really done any EV training

The one thing I cannot fucking stand about this game is the full restore and hyper potion spam.

About to get my 7th badge, current team is

Krokorok, Galvantula, Archeops (<3), Serperior, and I have a Litwick and Vanillite training up.

My main issue is that no one can use surf... Thinking of ditching Serperior cause he kind of sucks, and getting something with surf and maybe some other utility moves I'll be getting later on, but no idea what. Kind of wish I had gone with the water starter, which I almost always go for. Thinking of maybe just grabbing a cloyster after I beat the game, since I don't think I need surf until then. The turtle pokemon looks kinda cool, although he's more physical oriented than special, but I went with the bird :<

only thing you "need" from surf at this point in the game is axew if you wanted a dragon for the dragon gym or just because you like them or getting the egg that holds larvesta

since i now know how EV training works which would be better for speed EVing Swanna or Basculin?

Meh, not really a fan of dragon types. I'd still like to have surf, to explore around, get items that require it, and what not

Hm, nah, can throw on waterfall and dive if you want, although I doubt there's much I can do with them atm lol

Basculin would be the fastest. I Surf in route 3 its a 100% chance to run into one, and you can get to it without going through any grass.

It's a 100% chance to run into Basculin surfing pretty much anywhere but the areas east of White Forest/Black City and Lacunosa town. I personally like surfing around village bridge for them, they go up to 54+ there, so it's easy to level and EV train at the same time.
