I started with Cactrot Rapido, pretty good NM for a starter. Have to be focus on your debuffs wearing and blink at the same time. I won't recommend nuking it for a starter but yea, it is a good NM.

Eh, rapido is a bit hard for a starter, since you need to tank it nearly flawlessly.
Just tried Contaminated Colosseum. Got him to 66% before he started resisting gravity to the point that it would wear off right as I cast it.I don't know what else to do.
I wouldn't try a BCNM etc just yet; your beginning few solos are likely to be slow before you get comfortable, and imposing a time limit on that will just make you panic/make stupid mistakes/try to rush it too much until you find that "groove" to play in.
Any of the Middle Lands standard lottery spawn NMs in Kuftal Tunnel etc should be quite simple for a beginner. Fenrir Prime is also quite easy and you don't really have much to lose in the event of a failure.
Well, it put your PDT/Recast gear to a test and your decision to make a choice when debuffs start wearing suddenly. Can keep trying again or Fenrir's prime is good too as mentioned above.
Edit: BCNM is a really bad choice to start out. Not only it doesn't make you learn much and waste your seals.
Hm. @ People above.
Did you sleep to 100 and start off with jin and then wing and jin again? Or what?
While I did my nin maat at 75, I started *all* my DD-based maat's by sleeping to 100 at start and using an i-wing mid-fight, self-SCing if possible. It's much easier/less annoying to farm up the money for meds than another test, generally, so I took whatever little advantages I could to ensure a win.
I suppose that could be the case, I've no idea what triggers his Mijin. Generally though, I found quite a few of the Maat "guides" on places like wiki to be pretty poor (I lost mnk maat 'cos of some awful advice from one such guide), so I'm not sure how much faith I'd put in them. Killing him quicker is probably safer than letting the fight drag on.
Ugh, that is what I thought. I'll try it, thanks.
All you have to do is run. It's easy to kite because it stops to use extremely bad breath fairly often.
I suppose if the aim is to just get better, and not to actually kill it, it would be a pretty decent nm. Hell, I suppose the 20 some tries it took me to kill it really improved my solo/tanking ability.
Personally all i did was walk in, utsu, engaged, ran up to it, and casted utsu every so often. I wsd once, but other than that did nothing but utsu. No potions, sleeping tp, etc. I did it at either level 69, or 70, can't say for sure, either way, it seemed rather impossible to lose to me.
RDM w/o Novio nuking: Elemental earring or morion +1?
Where's a good place to do Trial 618 katana? 100 mobs of the bird family under ice/earth/dark/water weather.
Marsh Mures outside Nashmau is the first thing which comes to my mind, will have both dark and water weather at times. Possibly these? Not many pops, but at least earth weather is relatively frequent. Or even Apkallu? Though be careful of hate build.
Thanks, I will try that if my plan doesn't work. I checked and it seem bats count as "birds", so figured syncing down a little and camping out in Fei'yin might be doable also.
