Sorry if this question's stupid, a couple different people have hinted that INT affects magic attack bonus (and thus quick draw) ... Does INT have a direct effect on magic attack?

I'm also wondering because there's INT+ on corsair AF legs, maybe they're good for something.... (otherwise I'm trashing them)

Suggestions for a useful Moogle Kupo d'Etat hat for a player with BRD/WHM/BST? I'm on BRD most of the time, WHM some of the time, and BST only rarely. I'm doing the final fight this weekend.

Also, suggestions for ASA pants for BRD and WHM? I already completed ASA but want to change the augments around.

Oh, if you want to keep them on while casting. You could set a var to 1/0, and then use:

That should work. And obviously just use if notspell= if you want to always switch out for certain spells.

Other than that, normal checks. Check temperature (read: is fan always on? If yes, probably too hot.) For more accuracy, google SpeedFan to get an exact reading of your GPU, should be no higher than 80 before shit starts to go wrong, though some mobile cards go even higher (90+) before this happens.

Make sure you have updated DirectX by going to the microsoft website.

If you're POSITIVE it was fine like 6 months ago, do a System Restore which should revert anything you borked up (too much porn?).

If none of these things work, Check Files in POL to make sure nothing's corrupted (long shot!) and consider re-installing.

EDIT: Should also mention, try mixing up how you start FFXI up. Does it still lag in true full-screen? With windower? Without? With official windower? If it works fine in one of those but not another, that drastically cuts down any chance its a driver/files/directx issue.

Casting certain spells (bind, sleep, grav) without changing any gear can often be a death sentence.

I've never run the numbers like you said to see what is in excess and what I should have more of, but generally this set kicked ass on birds. I could of course get rajas, HQ dusk feet, etc, but meh.

As for bream sushi, afaik the +1% ACC/RACC I *think* work out to an increase of 1.5-2% total hit rate. You have high level fishing, go fish up an assload of Mercs and find a 100 cooking friend. They can T2 the Mercs and then just store all the extra bream sushi on a mule. When I was capping merits I spent one day fishing up 100+ mercs and synthing them all. NQ synth is x4 sushi, so even if you were t0 and NQ'd all 100 synths you'd end up with 33 stacks lol. For the most part I spammed NQ and sold the HQ off, you'll go through it pretty fast while meriting so I figured enjoy the profit from the HQ. Use berserk whenever it's up, and save warcry for WS, the numbers are pretty astounding.

That's slightly better than my gear, but close. I think on above-average birds you'd still be sitting below 90% accuracy on birds (but like I said, I've never been one to really run numbers before this week) so if eyeballing it was awesome, I'll take your word.

I was just plugging in average level/evasion into FFXICalculator for merit birds and seeing what it said. No real word tests, yet.

How do you switch into PDT/MDT set using spellcast?

Do you use: if advanced "var" = "1"? I find that doing it that way takes at least a couple of seconds for it to switch to the set. Is there a way to swap faster?

Combination of what people have said:

sc set pdt;
sc v s idletype pdt;

Swaps you to the set right away then you can use idletype (or w/e var you use) to lock the slots you want.

Rereading I suppose this is what rog meant.

The reason you don't see swaps now when you just swap the variable is that spellcast hasn't seen an action to check through the rules again for gear swaps, all it sees is you wanted the variable to change.

Also note if you're already casting say, raise, and hit the above pdt macro midcast it'll swap you to pdt right away, but after raise finishes your normal aftercast swaps will take place, spellcast already determined them when you hit raise.

You could use a dummy spell to change to pdt/mdt sets to get around that.

Ideally I'll have 114 STR, 60 VIT, and will be SCing at exactly 200TP (Lamian Kaman + Wooden Arrow). D96 weapon, so 185 base damage for Steel Cyclone?
Max and Min 2H Crit pDIF are 3.15 and 2.891 respectively, according to Masa's research.
Max damage I should do with no TP Bonus or base damage bonus is ~1020, and Min damage I should do is ~935, right?

Hey I would like to have better quality screenshots. My laptop resolution is 1366 x 768 and I turned up the background resolution to like, 2048 x 2048 and my screenshots still look like this

The only way you could even maybe do that would be with your item restore, and it would be rather stupid to waste that on a jupiter's staff.

For one, you want your background resolution to be a roughly 'square' of your display resolution. For example, since your display resolution is 1366*768, your background resolution should be any of: equal to that (1366*768), double (2732*1536), or four times (5464*3072).

However, that alone won't generate screenshots with the same quality as some I've seen on BG. Perhaps someone else can give better info.
