Yeah Jersey wasn't our real first choice. It started as more of a joke "Jersey Shore" all that but a lot of the people going are in jersey and it would be easier for them, planning to go to Tahoe in the winter which I expect to be a lot more interesting. Jersey was just cheaper.

I second the vote for Mack's Pizza. Definitely the best pizza on the boardwalk. <3
I grew up in Cape May which is like.. 15 minutes from Wildwood.
There are a lot of nice restaurants in Cape May with vegetarian menus.. I haven't lived there in almost 2 years, so I'm not sure what's still there and what's not..

Boardwalk cheese fries are a must too. God, I miss them. lol.

Wildwood is fun. It gets a bad rep but I enjoy it. There are some dicks down there but you get that everywhere. Just take it for what it is and have fun. The food is delicious and it's a fun environment. (Though it can get crowded). I've gone to Wildwood pretty much every summer for my entire life. It's a good time.

As for Volleyball, there are three nets set up right next to the convention center. I play down there a bit from time to time with a few friends. It's fun. Just bring a ball and you're good to go.

As far as local breweries, I don't drink. But I am a bartender and we did a taste of Philadelphia event last year that showcased some of the local breweries. If there's anything by Yards or Victory. Check it out. They were really nice guys and all of the customers trying it were pretty impressed. I hear good things about Fish head as well. I'm sure you probably get Yuengling.. it's pretty widespread. But it's brewed locally. If not, then that's what all of my friends drink and would recommend it.

American Scream Machine sucks, I don't see what's enjoyable about the sensation of getting kicked in the head at 80 rpm. Pretty boring regardless.

    El Toro, meh.

5.50 now, was just there on Saturday.

I prefer Ocean City myself, but I haven't been to Wildwood in about 5 years or so and I didn't drink back then (OC is a dry town). Seaside is the beach from that show, though that's about halfway up the state from Wildwood.

Honestly, drinking is the best thing you can do because the beaches are closed at night.

I am of course taking in to account line length. Nitro is usually the best bang for your buck while Medusa is my favorite but shorter lines, but I think El Toro is better.

implying that it's ever open. First time I went on it I went on 3 times in a row because there was no line. Totally not worth it if more than ... 20 minute wait unless you've never been on it before.

we only go to wildwood for firefighters weekend. We get smashed enough so we don't realize we are even in wildwood or remember any of it.

Dunno if anyone answered this, but no, FatBurger. It's a chain that makes (seriously unhealthy) burgers. The only one I know of is at the "food court" in the Borgata in Atlantic City.

North from Wildwood, before 6-Flags is Toms River and Point Pleasant, both are (or were?) other coastal cities with event-boardwalks.

The more north you go in NJ, the better the pizza.
the more south you go in NJ, the better the food made from potatoes (malt and fries ftw)

Been 13 years since I moved from NJ, I'm sure a lot has changed.

Pick up copies of Weird NJ magazine (or check out the site), visit the local mysteries and attractions.

You won't have a problem b/c you are driving up, but Wildwood Crest is a dry county (no alcohol at all). You have to go 2-3 miles away from the beach to get to Wildwood, which has a few liquor stores.

I used to go down every year with my dad's side of the family. We always stay at the Jolly Roger. Was a lot of fun 4-5 years ago, I wouldn't go there now though.

Cape May is much nicer, and a bit more expensive to stay at, but it's very close to Wildwood. It's made up of mostly really old Victorian homes, so it's nice to take a day there and check out the architecture if you are in to that. They have an outdoor street mall too you can check out with tons of little shops. Back when I went there every summer, you had to pay to get onto the beach @ Cape May. I actually didn't mind it because it kept most of the douche bags in Wildwood lol. Cape May also has tons of Mini-Golf places. Me and my fiance are fucking addicted to mini-golf so we used to play that up quite a bit as well.

Morey's Pier and the Water Parks on the Piers are pretty much all there is to do there (Wildwood specifically) from what I remember, aside from Cape May for a day and the beach. Lot's of ice cream places too if you like that. If you like crab/seafood, go to the 3 Mile Landing Crab House. Most delicious fucking crab I've ever had outside of Maryland.

More so Seaside Park/Heights than Toms River, but yeah they have event boardwalks with small roller coasters etc. I assume it's a good time at night on the boardwalk with the arcades and stands and stuff but while I lived in seaside it's mainly just a time and money sink lol. Can't go wrong with the beach though.

Yeah we are staying in Wildwood(pretty sure it's not the crest unless it's actually just one thing). Also dolove the seafood and ice cream
