    cpu/mobo platforms

When 14 gets here I'll probably do some upgrading even though this can run it (might postpone if I can run well in a beta) but in the event I go shopping later on, as it stands right now how does the lifespan of current platforms look? I browsed toms hardware a bit and coming out of that the phenom II 955 looked like a current good deal, but I dunno anything about AMD these days (or the i- line for that matter) are any of the current mobo styles/chipsets looking like they are nearing end of life? Does Intel or AMD have things in the pipelin that could see daylight by fall?

AMD has the Thuban core design coming soon it's a six core processor. They are expected to be priced under $300.00

The AM3 890FX chipset motherboards are getting released in a couple months i think, they'll be the best possible motherboards for the socket AM3 and are compatable with the upcoming Phenom II x6 processors. Asus crosshair IV extreme and the MSI 890FX-GD70 are looking very nice. In 2011 AMD is coming out with some new processors, something code named "Bulldozer". I don't know if they'll be the new high end desktop processors though.

Bulldozer will be the new high end processors as it will integrate a GPU into the CPU..... I wonder if you can crossfire the processors GPU core to a dedicated video card, if that's the case...

Anyhow, 1090T benchmarks are leaking and surprising enough the 1090T outperforms the Core i7 860 which sounds promising considering AMD has been a generation behind Intel.
