Chrome crashing a lot lately

This past week chrome has been crashing a bunch when I open a site in a new tab. It happens with the minority of new tabs opened but since I open a lot it ends up happening every hour'ish. I don't really notice a pattern to it, if a site crashes it then every time I try to re open that same page if done shortly after it will keep crashing chrome but a few hours later that site can be opened fine.

Chrome says it's up to date so I don't know what's up and if this is happening to someone else I'll at least know it's not something wrong with my computer/chrome

Are you using a beta version, by chance? I really don't have any idea as to a specific cause, but there are a few things you could check. Use many extensions? I don't think this would affect Chrome the way it does Firefox, but it may be worth disabling them and seeing if the problem persists since the extensions are all user-generated. Maybe try reinstalling just in case? /nothelpful lol.
