This is a game, who cares how another person is playing their job as long as their having fun doing it. Feeling irritated at a person in lower quality gear with one or two nice pieces of gear isn't the problem, you can't help how you feel, but expressing it openly in anger such as posting or telling other people about it, or confronting the person and telling em they suck or w/e isn't exactly cool.
I will note that I was not trying to belittle anyone's efforts as far as getting SL items, or any items at that, but being openly angry at someone else for the way they choose to play a GAME, which is the keyword, is kind of ridiculous. This game is luck and chance, if anything you should be angry at SE for the shitty drop rates on items, (I know I am) not at the person who got lucky getting the gear no matter how they choose to play. If you don't like that they choose not to wear dusk, or melee in str ring, don't associate yourself with them, associate yourself with people and events that allow you to have fun, and let them do whatever they want too.
I can understand the logic of when you tell someone multiple times this is better than that and they don't listen that something is wrong. However that plays more effect in actuality and not in a game where people are more or less free to do as they like, they are paying for the game after all, not anyone else. (and yes I know in some cases its parents or someone else, in case someone wants to get technical but that's beside the point).
I'm sure there will now be arguments about the statement of how this is a GAME, but in the end I'm not gonna argue that topic much, people see from many different perspectives and won't allow this to be just a game, with factors of personal time spent and such.
I will say again I am not trying to belittle anyone's efforts, and this game is based on chance and luck quite a bit which sucks, but its not the fault of those with whose gear some have trouble with, but SE. This can't be helped.
In the end I still see this as a losing arguement, but maybe at least one person can see where I'm coming from.

The dumb ass who told me he did it two weeks ago got 6 people together, climbed all the way to the throne room and couldn't enter. Guessing if you actually tried to enter Ronin it wouldn't let you.

The thing is, this is BG. Super elitist people post here. You are trying to turn BG into alla, which will not happen. There is a reason why alla people and BG people are considered two different types. If you really don't like how people treat others on this forum you really shouldn't read it.

lol nice try with the BG alla thing, but that just seems like an easy cope out attempt. Most anyone can open up and see reason if they wanted to, nonetheless I have agreed though that it is inevitably fruitless. If super elitists as they are called want to be as such that's more than fine. I will continue to read for useful stuff and leave the rest alone, changing the statement to if I really don't like how people treat each other here, who cares, keep my thoughts to myself and don't post.
I just made a note on how sad it was to see what I read in hopes someone may think about their statements more carefully, but I will not make that mistake again. In the end I remember that I really don't care how people treat each other anymore in the virtual world, long as it doesn't effect me here physically, after all its human nature to act this way right lol? Well we unlocked the bcnm last week and the throne room this week. got my allied ring yesterday yay .

We started Bea Glacier on friday and took that over then have casuals maintain the region bar. On friday we did xarcabard (S) only and took that bar as far as we could with some regulars doing campaign Ops and blowing up the fortifications with all 7 tags they had. (they weren't high enough rank to do bcnm they were helping take egion anyway).

On saturday we Did Castle Zvaileys and when those mob warped out we alternated with Castle Z. Keep. Those mob are very easy to defeat with 18 ppl and only time ppl died was by the doom attack from the tauras due to not turning around sometimes. Did this area with 18-26ish ppl for about 8 hours, some NA and mostly JP. Before tally we touched up on xarcabard and glacier again and then we unlocked BCNM.

We completely owned the BCNM every single day and took throne room and unlocked allied ring. We got 7 Nocturne bodies in a row, 0 helms, 0 Nightfalls, 2 Necklaces, about 5 capes. Think it was 7 bodies.
Lali, lordcanti,malacite,Resievil,Somnus, forget who else won the bodies.

(Very) Rough estimates based on parses of a few runs:

Shadow Lord is about lvl 88 (could be anywhere from 87-89)
Has ~475 defense, ~425 with Dia II (could be lower; extrapolated averages varied by up to 25 points)
Need ~450 accuracy to cap hit rate


Just targets to note when trying to improve performance in the fight.


Personally finding it extremely easy to tank as mnk/nin using Counterstance+Footwork (with KKs) and 41-47 Subtle Blow (Hades Sainti, Melee Gloves/Usu Gote, Rajas, Black Belt, Tiercel when Focus is up), giving 5-6 TP per hit on a 7-hit build. Whm Auspice is also nice, pushing TP given to 4.7 per hit.

In theory, can do ~5% of his HP in damage between each of his TP moves (or ~90-120 seconds with plenty of haste, but also lots of utsu casting), and thats if he always goes at 100 TP (but also never hits you for TP). Unfortunately, 1 mnk is insufficient damage to complete the BC within the time limit (need about 35-40 minutes).

MNK completely ass rapes SL with footwork on and Asc. Fury. For some reason fury averages 600-1000 dmg on SL while I haven't seen even seen any king's justice, kaitens, drakesbane etc hit that hard. I used dragonkick with dune boots and footwork at 300TP and it didnt even break 300 dmg, I used several howling fists and Asuran and couldn't break 300 either. I have WS gear for all 3 WS and no gear at all for Fury WS but it still does way more damage. Footwork makes him do noticeably less TP moves but gives you hate on each Asc(tab) Fury. Penance works very well and counterstance procs alot on him for whatever reason. Was very proud my mnk was useful on a high level mob competing in damage with 2 handers.

We used several setups that included DRK DRG MNK and WAR as damage dealers. imo, DRK did loldamage to him every drk I brought.

WAR was the best and 3 WARs makes the fight by far the smoothest even without stunners. WAR is the best damage dealer possibly but the fights went fastest with our

WAR MNK DRG setup possibly due to tomahawk and angon. DRG had a gungnir too so he put us to shame completely. SL dropped in less then like 6 mins that fight.

WAR: Best because of the provoke ability for when SL changes hate randomly. Does nasty dmg on SL 1500+ WS with M.Strikes and W.Charge up. Bring tomahwaks if you want, they are pretty good.

MNK: Can hold SL almost forever if other DDs drop due to high evasion (I think A- with boxers, merits, and eva torque), high counter rate, high HP, subtle blow + penance gear, and High haste rating.

DRK: Useful cause he can stun and weapon bash. If you aren't gonna use souleater don't bother bringing this job at all imo.

DRG: Record breaking time was with the dragoon. He can exchange hate with jumps and angon + spirit surge jumps make the fight go twice as fast at last 25%. Think shadow lord took extra damage from peircing but I forget.

BLU: Our BLU used a very high acc build and acc food. He landed headbutt alot and had about 3 stun blue magic spells. His dmg is very low
and it gets nasty the longer SL is alive at the 25% mark. We timed out almost both times we tried with a BLU MNK SAM setup.

BRD: Was in all our parties, he sacks clones and keeps elegy and march on at all times. Soul Voice wasn't needed but can obviously help alot. sub /whm for diaga if you are gonna sack.

SAM: Pretty high WS damage as always with SAM. SAM 2 hr beautiful as always.

RDM: Just land slow 2. merits are optional, some had phalanx 2 and dia 3, some didn't. Doesn't matter as long as you do your job as rdm while landing slow on mob. Can make rdm come /whm or /drk.

WHM: Benediction, aucpice, protect 5. stoneskin on cures, enough said.

If you have one of those jobs, bring it, it works, don't be afraid to try it. We never tried SCH or COR but those work too. Not a trend follower, so next time I wanna bring a PUP, DNC or THF as a DD. Everyone should be allowed to win with their main job.

Most bards we went with couldn't land elegy to save their life. We counter this by exchanging hate between the 3 DD, thats why I recommend 2+ WAR for a smoother battle if you are new to the BCNM.

Every battle we used 3 DD, 2 mage 1 brd. Sorry for wall of text, Just had alot of fun last week with this bcnm. Just wanna tell ppl in servers that are just unlocking Fiat Lux about how cool their job works vs Shadow Lord.
Last day the line was huge and we waited in line for 5 hours before entering, 1 of our DDs forgot his tag and we died to SL at 5% when he turned and blighting blitzed the mages at the end. We entered with 5 ppl at 5 hr wait and lost at 5%...
