TIME'S top 10 shows that overstayed

    http://www.time.com/time/specials/pa...976244,00.html

While Fox's 24 just announced this season would be its last, some thought the show's terrorism tactics were long outdated. As we gear up to say goodbye to 24, TIME takes a look at other television series that stayed at the party a bit too long:

    1) 24
    2) Survivor
    3) At the Movies
    4) Happy Days
    5) ER
    6) America's Funniest Home Videos
    7) The Simpsons
    8) That '70s Show
    9) Moonlighting
    10) The Real World

I agree about Survivor and The Real World. Kinda meh, about the rest.

How can you not agree about The Simpsons? That show stopped being funny 5+ seasons back. I used to watch that show every time it came on, even if it was a rerun. I can still word for word quote most of that stuff. Now I havnt watched a single new episode in at least 3 years.
That 70's show, I only really watched the 1st 3 seasons of, but didn't like almost all the cast leave and then it was just the parents Fez, donna and that mastersons kid I forgot his name.

I haven't seen Simpsons for a long time now. So no idea that its gone down in quality over the years.

If you haven't watched it in a long time now it must be because it sucks. I have been proven correct! If that shit was good, you would make yourself watch it!

The Real World was a great show when it was about seven random 20something strangers thrown together in a house, in a city they've never been to, and watching as they co-habitate and go about trying to find jobs/careers/love/sense of purpose. It stopped being a great show when it became about seven random 20something strangers thrown together in a ridiculous vacation house, in a party town, and watching them drink/fight/fuck each other every episode. I think it all started with the Hawaii season.

For the most part I agree with this list. 24 was cool for a while. I do still watch the Simpsons from time to time though. As amusingly stupid as Homer is, they've run of stupid stuff for him to do. I liked it better when Bart's antics were the focus of the show. Survivor is definitely worthy of that list. Pretty much all of these shows jumped the shark at some point so I guess it's only fitting that the show which gave rise to that term (Happy Days) made that list.

Every season or two, I try to get back into the Real World, and just can't. Now it's just become like a minor league feeder system where they try out people for the Challenges.

I really hate to admit it, but 24 really overstayed it's welcome. Mind you, I loved the show back from Season 1-4, and Season 5 was good. But holy shit did the wheels come off in Season 6. Who, in their right mind, thought it was a good idea to end the season with Jack dumping his comatose girlfriend? While Season 7 was much, much better, this season brought about the absolutely awful Dana storyline, that honestly makes me wish for the days of the stupid Kim Bauer storylines, as then they were amusing (I mean, the entire mountain lion thing was stupid, but shit that made me laugh, this Dana stuff is stupid and not funny.)

I hope, now that Dana seems to be out of the way (then again, I thought her shit was done like 5 episodes ago), maybe the show will improve. I have my doubts.

Kind of a dumb list. The overwhelming majority of shows that survive past a 3rd-4th season have largely overstayed their welcome. Some NEW shoes were never welcome in the first place (e.g. Road Rules vs Real World Double Dare!, Cleveland Show). Internally I bet we're all doubling the list in length at least, without dipping into shows canceled over 20 years ago.

-1 Internet. The last season was my favorite by far. The two before that were bad though.

Last season Topher Grace and Ashton left so it was shit, everybody else stayed on and Seth Meyers's brother replaced Eric.

Do you mean the last real Scrubs was your favorite or Med School? The Med School season was a disaster for a lot of reasons.

I'm still watching it occasionally, and while the novelty did wear off after 20 years or something, it still manage to be funny more than a few times every episodes.

I do agree it lasted too long, you're better off with fresh material after a while, but I wouldn't say it sucks.

I thought Ax-men and Ice Road Truckers were past their date one episode into their first season and they're on like season 4-5.... although some people may not be history channel people.

I don't watch new Simpsons episodes with the regularity I once did, but I enjoyed last night's episode.

Scrubs was brilliant up until the end of the regular cast. Med School sucked.
