I never liked /THF at imps much during those levels since amnesia was such a pain in the ass. It was fantastic when/if it got off though.
What?
It's about as useful as all of your posts combined, which can be summerised into "I love blu, blu is awesome and the best of everything, it's so complex i need a million gear sets, anyone who disagrees with me is wrong".
Tizona doesn't really enhance your melee side much though unless you store TP heavily and your spell side is going to become significantly less useful the more melee-friendly the situation is.
Just saying, don't mock THF![]()
While you're right about BLU being able to tank, its a complete step backward as far as game progression is concerned. BLU is, in my opinion(and we really don't need to have a discussion about this here) a less attractive version of RDM for tanking, and even RDM has limited tanking venues these days. Most of the mobs in this game can be tanked with damage, and you really don't want to throw anything other than a DRK, WAR, or SAM at those. Personally, I'm hoping that Square keeps their promise with the new direction of Abyssea HNM, so that RDM becomes more useful as a tank again, but I'm not holding my breath.
Roger.
Other than snap Enmity from Provoke (which shouldn't really be an issue), what on earth makes Warrior a better damage-based tank than Monk? Retaliation is sort of helpful in terms of reducing Enmity lost from taking damage, but otherwise, the only meaningful advantage I can think of is that Warrior gets access to somewhat better Magic Damage Reduction.
I can't really see SE deliberately making Red Mage into a viable tank. Bearing in mind, they never did, nor did they make Ninja into a viable tank (by original design, anyhow), but it seems a little fluff-headed to hope they'll make a support mage into a tank.
That was more in reference to higher-end HNM, where a 2-handed DD is going to see better results than a monk. The latter is definitely better in more melee-friendly situations. My bad.
And its not that I'm expecting them to give RDM more tanking tools, I'm just hoping they take HNM in direction that calls for sturdier defenders and not DD/NIN, because the former would inherently make the tanking scene more favorable for RDM(as well as PLD, BLU, and NIN.. But so many people have RDM these days that I don't see why you'd use them).
I can agree on wanting something that should be tanked by a real tank, but I suspect that'd mean reworking how Defense and VIT operate so as to permit blood-tanking to be viable. Without that, Utsusemi will pretty much remain the de facto standard one way or another.
Anyone saw or can predict the dmg of Spharai MNK on HNMs?
Could it be even possible to tank them (assuming you have pdt, mdt, counter set etc.)? And even if its possible, how many HNMs dont have high dmg physical AoE and/or Multihits move to maintain counterstance?
I wont have anough currency before Christmas so not like i need to decide now![]()
I think you show the weakness in your argument here. If subbing NIN and doing damage to get hate is all that is needed to be considered a tank then why would BLU need to use hate-get spells? The answer is simply because they don't have the damage output of other jobs to "tank" with /NIN.
Like I said before, by your definition any job can /NIN and "tank". For things that need real tanks, people don't use BLU. The proof is in the pudding.
