Not shallow - purposeless. There are other ways that can be used to deal with skin imperfections. With this in mind, why would men wear makeup, a product designed to be used by women.

Because they might want to cover up skin imperfections, which you claim is purposeless which is contradictory since the stated purpose is in fact to cover up skin impefections. I don't know why every man in the world might want to wear makeup. I do know that in TV men do wear makeup to make them look better. They just use enough for you not to know that they are using makeup.

Your post is hard for me to understand. Why do women wear makeup? I assume because they want to look pretty. Pretty is somewhat subjective. If the same reason applies, men might want to look pretty or, if you like, more attractive by using makeup.

Anyway, to potentially close: Men, as of late, have become more concerned and unsure of what consitutes masculinity, what is the role and what a man should look like. Some would say that the identity of men is in crisis. This is why you get so many varying opinions on what men wear and what men do. This is also why so many men get so anxious about it or very fervent with their insistence on what they think is right for men. On what they think a 'real' man is. Hopefully someday we will get past this phase and masculinity will be a much more flexible and rational idea. If ever.
