Oddly enough these syndromes do show why some sort of profiling/stereotyping is in fact needed (like you said).

My mom is a Special Education teacher and has had all of the above on multiple occasions. She's had several situations where she constantly had to try to teach them to not let people touch their "privates" because of an incident that happened. And even then they never understand the "why", just that their teacher told them not to.

This study is semi retarded because I highly doubt that whatever lack of chromosome makes them like it, is STRICTLY about race. If you removed it from people without the syndrome they more likely would also lack other social issues.

No, they have no social fear/stereotyping due to a genetic disorder, which causes them to not have any stereotypes about race, but also to not have any stereotypes about strangers in a van wanting to give them candy.

I think it's been touched on a couple of times already, but isn't this study providing essentially misleading (if not useless) data? I disagree that racism is due to a "social fear." I don't work with these types of kids so Ksandra is obviously a better source, but my understanding is that these kids lack ALL social grace, not just racism. Lacking racism would just be a byproduct. Like saying I don't have a steering wheel, when the real issue is that they don't have a car.

Focusing on just the social aspects of William's Syndrome I thought it was basically reverse social anxiety disorder. People with social anxiety disorders have problems with all people, not just people of one race.

Its interesting, but it should have already been known that racism comes/can come from social fears and anxieties. Humans fear what they don't understand and eventually hate and distrust what they fear.

This is correct and was my point. They lack everything when it comes to social constructs.

Being Aspie or Autie or whatnot has no real effect on being prejudice, though I did always think it was... retarded, to hate people based on physical appearances.

I actually was mistaken in that I had heard that William's was the far end of the social development spectrum from autism, when it's more of a deficiency in weighing risks, making children appear/behave overly sociable, to the point of endangering themselves.

Do scientists not have ways to publish information to the general public without having to rely on the usual mass media? I don't think that simply publishing in scientific articles is enough to diseminate responsible information.
