iPad - worth it or no?

I assume you live in a city or at least dense suburbs, for us rural folk 3G is much more utilitarian because we don't have wifi hotspots everywhere, or anywhere really, as such the majority of places I do go don't.

Like 90% of the time I spend reading/posting on forums like this one is done from my phone currently, as I spend the majority of my time away from home.

Fact that I can "Upgrade" and save money doing so, is the only reason I'm even considering it. I get a device that suits me better for what I use it for, and costs less than I currently pay, well still costing way less over time than the other option(netbook with 3g).

Sitting on my back porch in the spring sunlight, sipping on a wine cooler with cheetos. All while leeching off free wifi in my netbook that has expansion, x86 flash, multitasking, and best of all. Integrated webcam for chat roulette, or conferences so I can chill.

No. I have and still am doing ALOT of work related demoing of it at work. Do you have an iPod touch? If so then dont bother, it is the EXACT same thing, just hella more expensive.

The only difference is the work iPad has speakers as where the iPod does not. Everything else is uncivilized a carbon copy.

Actually, the 2nd Generation iPod touch has built in speakers. They're shit, but it does have them. Don't know about the 3rd gen.

iPads are nice... I admit I like to play with the ones we have here at work and ones owned by my friends and family. I don't really need one though so I said no when my dad offered to buy me one.

Honestly after using a netbook at work for some things and playing with an iPad just to goof off I'd rather have the iPad. I think netbooks are pretty crappy overall and if I need a real computer I have both of my laptops and can take one or both.

You should just get what you want and not care about rabid apple fanboys or rabid anti-apple fanboys. What I'm trying to say is think for yourself and get what you will get the most enjoyment out of.

*fun fact: I was dragged kicking and screaming into my first iPhone which was a gift I wasn't much interested in having. I was 100% against it and always wanted the newest HTC or other smartphone. Now I only want my iPhone. Thing is a beast too, takes a drop onto concrete and still works, killed 3 HTC phones with less horrible drops than what the iPhone has repeatedly suffered.

No. As with all Apple products, they suck for the first 2 generations. Being an Apple Innovator/Early Adopter means you like to take it up the ass, always wait. By the time the product reaches the 3rd generation, the product will suck less, but it's still Apple, so it'll always suck.
