    maybe it will be absed on whatever weapon is in your main hand? like if i have a longsword in the main hand and a pistol in the offhand ill be a gladiator, pistol in the main hand and longsword in the off im a musketeer?

    I have this vague childhood memory of some older FF game (I want to say FFIII or FFV) that had a class that surrounded itself with a circle of floating swords.

    Does this ring a bell to anyone? Was it the Mystic Knight in FFV? It might have only been a drawing in the instruction booklet though with a limited animation in game...

    Anyway, if that was a Mystic Knight, how cool would it be if the weapon for Mystic in FFXIV was a circle of swords that floated around him or her?

    If it wasn't Mystic Knight can someone tell me what class and game that was?

    Did the character constantly have swords floating around him/her? If so, then it definitely wasn't FFV. That game's class system is still the most memorable, in my opinion. Mostly because of the method of getting Mime. Ridiculous (but awesome) stuff.

Given how many things people keep claiming gets copied from WoW, this is something FFXI had before WoW... hence the snide remark about WoW copying FFXI for once, even if they didn't invent it. Sort of like how WoW didn't invent any of the things people keep giving it credit for, either.

    Kind of like how I keep hearing bioshock invented weapon upgrades and rpg elements in first person shooters!

    Looking over the crafting classes I noticed Bonecraft is missing... I didn't care for it in XI but I'm sure there will be some who will miss it

    It's sounds like Mystic Knight, originally called Sorceror, which was a sword-based caster class that used powerful En-spells. As I recall it was a pretty good class because it basically used both a good physical attack along with whatever spell you selected. So you could get in a respectable melee attack and cast Flare in one round. But it's been ages since I played V, and I can barely remember the class, let alone the animation.

    They're not really talking about chocobos at all right now so I wouldn't judge that too fast.

    i think there will be some sort of treasure hunting game with chocobo cause doesnt seem like we need them to get around with all the warps

    Considering the TP-system equivalent is more complex as well, I sure as hell HOPE the days of AFK-melee are dead and gone.

    I didn't know there was an age of AFK-melee in FFXI, at least in my experience. My Remove Player button has never malfunctioned.

    Oh, c'mon. AFK melee are just those guys who pay more attention to the TV than the game, just glancing back to their screens to see if they have TP or need to line up to the next mobs yet. There's no sense pretending we mean those guys who actually ninja-AFK 5-10 minutes at a time.

    Well we need to be able to do something with all those shells, bones, and fangs we're gathering, besides turning them into tasty Jello.

    I was honestly hoping there'd be some kind of Carver class who covered both woodworking and bonecrafting, but that's obviously not going to be the case.

    Maybe they'll just split bonecrafting up among all the crafters now. No more harnesses made entirely of bone, now it's just used to fortify a leather harness. Or something.
