Kuya being black doesn't have anything to do with skin color here, just how disagreeable someone finds you. For example, Tiger Woods was always a "half black half asian" golf player until people found out he was cheating on his wife, then he became full black. Before 9/11 arabs were black too, but now that they have a special place for hatred they are islamists.
Granted I was young when 9/11 happened. I do have some recollection of of the evil arab stereotypes from before, but 9/11 really cemented the dichotomy.
btw my professor grew up in Zimbabwe and the congo and traveled all over africa before coming to the US in '68. He is white. Is he an african american?

It just seems to me that the term african american makes 2 assumptions about the person that are not universally true. No?
I don't know about the other blacks here, but I fill out other... or write in european-african.
i wonder why republicans don't call obama a kenyan-american
