what exactly is the official stance on editing post content rather than outright deleting a post? sometimes the content seems like it's edited due to personal bias rather than to enforce some kind of rule, and that's just shitty.

The only time editing has ever come up is the following:
Valid post with NSFW/NSFL image in a subforum that does not endorse NSF.
Someone posting illegit info (contact info, exploits, etc).

Everything else was leave as-is or toss it in the Graveyard or Mod forum.
