The real question is: how long will it take to get your 100k AN back from Campaign after purchasing these weapons? I don't think it's worth the trouble after all, especially for Windurst people who need to spend 150k for a decent weapon instead.

And lol @ the QQ comments over Campaign... jobs like RDM have no choice but to use dirty tactics to get decent exp, besides I have more fun that way.
Nothing beats casting Bio 3, Poison 2, Silence, Blind, Slow 2, Pralayze and Gravity, followed by KC spam, on a Shadoweye Gnat being soloed by some PLD or SAM.

I had over 700k AN so anything I would've wanted I would've gotten already. Getting both weapons was of no major loss to me in regards to AN.

If this is your first time Campaigning seriously to get medals/AN just for the weapons/SL fight, then I doubt you would've cared about getting AN back anyway.

    You're full of shit.

Especially since RDM can use either campaign WS sword.

I dumped using RDM in favor of SAM/DNC shortly after 37ing DNC since SAM was just less stress to maintain. Composure came, but I still stuck to SAM before jumping to Aion for a bit. Really, if it weren't for buff durations getting tripled by Composure, I'd still be on SAM. And understanding (at least the old) mechanics of campaign EXP gain, RDM has greater potential than SAM/DNC in fights going over 40 minutes. When you break 1m AN, you kinda stop giving a shit about tag turn-ins to maximize that, too.

Right now, if I wanted to regain the 100k AN, I'd need 40 fights where I could get 27 minutes of good action in. Translates to 18 hours of fighting exclusively, but added time running and warping would probably make things closer to 24. Spreading this out to a week of 3-4 hour sessions, though, would make it more tolerable to the average person. Aside from new weapons, I can't really see SE adding much else to AN item pools.

I'd like to have an Allied Ring before the cap increase hits, but I'm doubtful if we'll ever manage to get the Throne Room since the initial post-patch rush has died and while we go Beauc/Xarc that week, we lost them the next.

What's the best RDM set up for Campaign XP anyway? I get a decent amount as RDM/WHM (for RR primarily since I hate dealing with Allied Tags NPC for temp items) just by standard healing/raising while meleeing something on the side.

Tempted to try something new when I get Uriel as long as it doesn't get me killed, perhaps RDM/BLU for cocoon?

Sam/Dnc with Soboro + Fourth Mantle + Rose strap is a beast in Campaign I was able to tank a Allotaur at level 61 in the northlands. I received almost 4k xp for that fight I can't recall ever getting that amount of xp on any other job at that level.

Tried my ranger in campaign at 61 and basically gave up the xp was horrible I guess bow is way way way to slow and inaccurate to be any good at that level. Maybe a xbow but I have the feeling its just not in the cards for my Ranger in campaign until a much higher level if ever.

I do more than fine rdm/whm with my pdt build, using griffinclaw prefered.
Ethereal earring helps when up against more damage causing targets.

Usually when Kazan the peerless runs untouched at a campaign
I'll DoT>Kite em as long as I can,the sustainment of myself is fun.
I took so much damage overall and 30%ish in DoT gave 7090 after he left
And a new wave showed up.

If you haven't already, casting enfeebles gives great xp overtime and count if they're resisted, not to mention helps out with the fighting. Not counting gnats obviously =p

Just fully buff and melee for RDMing, really. Naturally, you'd be better served if you have your sword/dagger skilled and a decent haste set, but taking hits will get you EXP, your damage will get you EXP, and I believe enspells count toward nuke EXP, so you pretty much have all categories covered when you also add in self-cures and enfeebles. Completely forgot about my Ethereal Earring, so I should be tweaking that into my Campaign set over Suppa, too. Using a 28% PDT build with Haste in other slots, than Refresh neck and Fourth Mantle. Fairly sturdy until situations like I started bitching about earlier arise.

Only thing I'm really unsure of since the fort nerf is how they upped category caps. Just meleeing shit SAM/DNC, if I never used Steps (enfeebles) I would often find myself capping around 2800 between damage done/taken and heals. Tossing in Steps, I'd break 3500 easily enough.

Steps were confirmed to count? Then what about Flash as I asked before? Granted, it isn't "enfeeble" but if it works then that'll help my WHM/NIN for some more points

I thought Dia and Bio were counted as magic damage but only on the initial hit (not the dot) and not as enfeeble? Or were you basically saying that and joking that Flash doesn't count as an enfeeble like bio/dia?

I do RDM/SCH. Reraise, Aspir, Arts, stratagems. I just solo a mob away from everyone else for as long as I can and usually get capped exp.

    I do BLU/PLD. On a decent battle I'll hit at least 3500. Most I've gotten is 4455.

Well, jelly/patronus ring's plus Cheviot cape and genbu's shield is usually all I'll bother with on most campaigns.Goli legs can help but 3% more or less won't be an extreme change, Ethereal has more weight should you have it.
Switch to full Goli for MDT swaps, seldom more than often.

Otherwise it's mostly haste pieces in the remaining slots.

I really like RDM/SCH for Campaign. It gives access to Reraise, Drain, and Aspir which are all extremely useful for Campaign. If you can stand cycling your buffs every few minutes it can easily tank most normal campaign mobs and get a crapload of xp. The fights are usually long and drawn out while I whittle the mob's HP down.

I do have a crapload of Campaign specific items, but they aren't all necessary. Griffinclaw for Uriel Blade, Fourth Mantle for Regain, Mrc.Mjr. Charm for Refresh, Patronus Ring for phys damage taken, Shield Collar for some VIT while tanking, and Bull Necklace for WS. Throw on a Genbu's Shield and you're good to go.

With all that soloing power I try to go to places that aren't that popular like the Necropolis, or whatever zone seems to be getting hammered with 4 waves of enemies the most. Beaucedine can be really good given the right circumstances even if there's a fair number of people there.

I really want to break 3 million notes again, I spent quite a lot on those accessories. lol

If RDM can get Manifestation at 80 with /SCH, it's gonna become my default Campaign sub, too. If tanking 3-4 mobs, Aspirga drawing in 200-400 MP would practically guarantee invincibility if people aren't trying to MPK you.

RDM /BLU especially if you use DEF food is almost overkill for everything except NMs or more then a few mobs at a time and can actually cut down your EXP/AN because you take less damage and do less damage then most melee and some of the other mage subs.. The upside is you're damn hard to kill except by some of the NMs.
RDM/anything works pretty much, you should be able to cap exp easily from 72+ meleeing, doing usual RDM feebs/dispel spam and curing you ass off of everything in sight inbetween. And you can always backup and nuke the nasty NMs from a distance. I've been doing it mostly RDM/RNG, but I did go out and get both campaign swords and have been messing around with them rdm/nin with joyeuse offhand and dont cast shadows unless you're dying so you can get hit more and I'm usually capping Allied Notes that way as much as I was on RDM/RNG. just about every subjob has at least something to offer for campaign. I just wish there was a moogle closer to the CA so if you wanted to change for a specific battle you'd have time to without missing half the battle. I've actually gotten pissed off enough to drop tags warp and change to /blu when that BLM NM Quad is the only one left in north gusta and there's no npcs or players around just so i could finish it off. For some reason he just irks me.

My play habits over the last year have lent plenty of time for campaign, wierd hours and short log-ons log-offs and I really wish, (and everyone else too) that they would tweak it out a little to make for longer battles or better campaign intel.. system messaging the exact start times like ballista can't be that friggin' hard can it?

Now that I've toyed around with it, I do have to admit Uriel Blade is pretty decent, getting very consistant 570-90s with random spikes with Coerl Sub and regular STR MND ATT WS set(Tarutaru rdm/nin v quads). I haven't really tried with a decent MAB set yet.. Maybe I'll try that tonight and post numbers tomorrow.

    Take care!

BLU/SCH is a xp machine too, you can set Magic Hammer, MP Drainkiss and an Aspir that doesn't suck... well it does really, but in the good way xD.
You still have Haste, access to both ws plus Cocoon, Disseverment, Sprout Smack for slow, Sub-Zero smash for para (or Reactor Cool), erase with Exuviation
