Okay smartass. Tell me where on their website they say that your playtime will be limited exclusively to the "test period".
WoW and SC alpha werent running on specific schedule like thi ones, and I'm sure it's not that common for alpha to be regulated like this. They can do whatever they want, it doesn't matter, but don't act like they made it obvious, or that it was common sense.
When was the last time you were involved in an alpha test? I'd say from my experience (which is limited to non game alphas, but an alpha is an alpha), the limited access to the program is very common.
Beside, my complaints aren't addressed at SquareEnix Hyan. They didn't made it clear, but who cares, it's not like I couldn't wait until tomorrow to find out. Asking a harmless question on this board was the quickest way to make sure out and that's what I did.
What annoys me is the attitude of a few posters here who [still] have their head stuck in SE's ass. You being on top of the list. I understand this shit is very obvious to someone who is hanging around tester for a while, but without that info...it's really not that clear.
Really, idkThe opening date for the FINAL FANTASY XIV Alpha Test phase will be Thursday, April 8th, 2010.
Accessible parts of the game will be determined on a weekly basis throughout the test phase, with multiple tests being carried out each week.

Forums > Topics (3rd board) or alternatively, bottom of the news page > Read Previous News Posts, has all the previous news... I agree a word in the Introduction thread would have been nice but really it's very obvious just by reading last 10 news :/
in my mail. (march)The forum will primarily be for announcements regarding updated content
and test schedules, but will also be used for posting bug reports and
bulletins, opinions and recommendations concerning test items, and
general tester discussion. For further details on any of these topics,
please navigate to "Forum" > "Play Guide" > "Read Me."
anyway, no need to derail anymore this thread, and we'll have plenty of time to bitch at each other when game is released.
I guess it was obvious at first if you were introduced to the alpha with this post. The 3 lines you quoted 2 posts ago make it painfully clear, but I sincerely never came accross anything like this in the time I spent on their website (and I did read a bunch of topic ranging from connection issue to the the step by step introduction).
I did skim through recents news when I got in, but it was just more of the same. The way I understood it initially, test schedule were additional stress test on top of the normal. Anyway, I'm done...I still think they could have done a better job with the introduction guide. They should have mentioned this thing and the port opening in the main protocole.
Anyways,
I think the next round of invites will be hueg. Since two servers were introduced today, they could possibly invite 10k~ people at once..
Although it can be kinda counterproductive, I hope they go through phase 2 as fast as possible >_>. And have a longer Beta or something.
Supposedly Beta 1 yeah, when they've reached 50 000 testers in this current Alpha.

-------------
So we got Shadowlord, Garland, and what's the 3rd?
From the last page:
The following two new Worlds were introduced today:
Emperor
Golbez
GOLBEZ!
So, with these 2 worlds, maybe they'll finish off with 50K by the end of the week and perhaps announce beta test 1 @ E3!
If they add any more people to the alpha, BG will be filled with more "Why can't I log in" posts then we can handle. We really should make a stickied announcement to avoid these kinds of questions.
Either way, at the rate they're adding new worlds, 10% of the playerbase will be in the alpha/beta by the end of June >.O Sadly, I somehow doubt I will be one of those 10%![]()
