Looks like server names are going the same way as 11, with bosses for alpha/beta servers. If summons are the retail servers, i hope we can get doomtrain as a server name.
Something just mentioned by a visitor to the #ffxivleaks chat - it seems people who got the invite email are also getting the emails with the test window dates and getting confused with the dates (i.e. the invite says login on the 9th but the test window in the second email says the 8th). Please remember that the date in your invite email is the earliest date -you- can get access. The date of the window is for those who are already have access before you.
(btw come join our crew on IRC - see my sig)
So another 40 mins and servers are live :D cant wait.
Ok, I have an alpha question, although not as facepalmy: Someone in one of the threads showed an alpha manual entry that delineated how the shield guarding system works. It's safe to assume that this is an excerpt from a larger manual of game mechanics, like how to fight, cast, macro, etc. However, I can't find anything beyond the basic manual on the beta forum. Can anyone possibly lead me to this manual of game mechanics via link or description? I'm hoping to know how to do my shit before logging on later today. =X
Edit: Misread intentions. I will L2Read. =X
lol im pretty sure its 18:11 right now. I think we are on GMT+1 though because when i google current GMT time it says GMT+00 17:11
Im no good at these GMT+ etc so thats the time it is at present. I have no idea what GMT+?? SE applied to that email.
The EU test begins at the turn of the next hour. It is 5:13 GMT currently.
I see, well thanks guys. I Know your fedup with the same stupid questions haha. Us new testers just excited and certainly dont want to miss out on an hours testing!
Thanks again
Or maybe you're able to answer because people asked that question multiple on this forum because they aren't making it clear on their own website. Whoever say it's obvious shit didn't get in the beta without reading this board.
There was common errors and crashs in nearly every step of the install that werent covered at all unless you were looking deep on their forum. When you actually reach the server 2 days later, it actually make you wonder if there isnt something else they ommited to say.
Except that both question asked aren't in the email.
Not at all. Speaking for myself here; but I'm able to answer it because I read the email others posted here, and because SE themselves stated tests will be done in blocks of 4 hours, just like they stated in the emails they sent out about the play times.
Perhaps it requires above-average intelligence to understand, but I think its rather safe to assume when they write "NA play times" and mention 3 days with 4-hour blocks of time, that those are the times you're actually, you know, able to play, and that the servers.
Better yet, I think its safe to assume the servers will be closed unless stated otherwise. Like, say, the times sent out.
Its an alpha, of course there will be crashes. What do you expect? There was common errors and crashs in nearly every step of the install that werent covered at all unless you were looking deep on their forum. When you actually reach the server 2 days later, it actually make you wonder if there isnt something else they ommited to say.
Edit: additionally, why don't you ask on the beta forums instead? That way you wouldn't have to complain about them not explaining it when you see the entire first two pages of the Alpha forum being filled with "Lulz, why I cant login? This sucks. SE sucks and I refuse to buy the game because I can't login"? That way ALL the alpha testers would be able to benefit from your infinite source of knowledge on the subject.
Like I said on the last page, I didn't come accross this bit of information on their board. You either have to look very deep on their board (old posts), or guess their testing method is something along these lines from numerous posts. When you join, it is not obvious what their testing methods are. It wouldn't be for anyone who didn't read a lot about the beta.
A quick way around it considering they are common? I could make a Q&A in 10 minutes that would answer 95% of the question I've seen on this board and on the tester board. Add this shit to the introduction guide and you're done. Its an alpha, of course there will be crashes. What do you expect?
SE has said a few times they aren't providing support for the alpha. If you have a question or need help with an issue your supposed to ask other testers on the test forums.
