I like how so many people here act like they wouldn't be worried if their login wasn't working. You're the same people that would be tripping if FFXI wasn't updating for you while everyone else was in Aery ready to claim Fafhogg.

If FFXI doesnt download the new data on the 7th when they said it would be available on the 10th, I'd totally act worried. TBH it has been eating me up ever since the update announcement. Anyone know why I can't enter the new zones? ....Anyone....?

I'll fully download the client, patch it, install it, and get to the regular log-in screen, but if I close the program down for any reason, the next time I open it back up, it treats me like it never finished downloading and gives me the retarded error.

I'm thinking of just leaving the damned game open until Thursday night just to try it out.

Client, which is my first problem (trusting SE to do anything regarding a PC well), but I don't torrent.

after i downloaded the 100 MB file it dled one file to update then restarted. Started DLing another file now and the DL speed is at 0/0 was at 36 for a second then 0.0 again. Is this normal

Friend of mine had the same issue, and alpha forums show a lot of people the same. It works fine for me, but when I put it on my laptop to test(which is ancient, 4200go/pentium 4) I was able to reproduce the same problem.

Based on that and that alone, I think its from failing the minimum requirements. What are your specs?

4GB of RAM with Intel Duo Core 2.20GHz processor. My laptop's really pretty fast so I wouldn't think that's it, or I sure hope it isn't...

Techically, the posted minimum CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo @2.4.. not 2.2. But that should be fine.

What about your video card? Control Panel-> Device Manager-> Display Adapter.

Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset, lol. I guess I'll try it on my brothers computer, it has 2.4 I think but only 1 gig of ram, figured mine would be better off with the 4 gigs of ram but who knows.
