Yeah that is an integrated chip which will be far below the required specs. And as for your brothers, minimum required 2gb ram for Windows 7/vista, 1.5gb for XP. Both systems are below the minimum requirements.

Actually got my laptop after I applied, the specs I applied with were my old comp which I gave to my brother that I'm gonna try.

Heavencloud: Same exact problem here, very similar specs. Desktop with Windows 7 64-bit, 4GB Ram, Intel Duo 2.1 processor, but an ATI Radeon X1950 graphics card. These are all slightly below the min specs listed, but I hope this isn't the problem. :/

Almost everyone who has been unable to launch the game so far at all has had a PC or laptop that doesn't meet the min specs.

I'd say that's the likely problem. You will have to either upgrade or wait til later on in the testing cycle and hope the min specs gets a bit more flexible. Considering the fact that the graphics/textures/lighting/shadows etc are going to be upgraded its possible the code will get optimised but the min specs won't get any lower, it will just stay as is.

@ Lucavi, not sure whats causing your error, but when you do the reinstall you aren't re-downloading it again are you?

You only need to delete the game folder, but you can use the original patch file. Just copy it to your desktop, delete, reinstall, start the patcher then stop it as soon as it starts.

Copy the patch file back in and it should work. Even if you do this every time it shouldn't take too long?

I'm planning to upgrade by the time the game actually comes out for sure, but unfortunately don't have the money (nor the desire, quite honestly) to upgrade just for the alpha/beta.

Thanks for the replies, the alpha board client issues thread is 30 pages long full of no help whatsoever to this problem and yet I post/read here and get some good suggestions. =O

Well I got it to launch on a 2.2 GHz 1GB RAM PC with a better videocard, but also on another computer with 2.1GHz processor, 2GB RAM, and integrated videocard. Not sure why it won't work on my newer laptop, because clearly those two other PCs don't meet the minimum requirements either... Meh, I'll just play on another PC. Would be nice to use my main though.

I don't think you understand just how terrible that laptops video is.

Scroll down a ways and find yours, you're #185 on a list of only mobile GPUs.. which are severely underpowered to begin with. Now compare 3dmark06 scores to the best mobile GPU shown.. 16288(anything higher is a multi-GPU setup) vs 594. 5-9-4. This isn't even in the realm of 'performance' anymore, that GPU has serious problems even running a 5 year old benchmark. And if you're curious, the minimum GPU listed on the spec sheet is a 8800, which would score approximately ~17500 on the same bench with a Core2Duo(the minimum CPU). Modern desktops easily break 40,000.

Just trying to put this in perspective for you. It's far more significant a shortcoming than a slightly underclocked CPU whose chip meets the minimum requirements.

I was deleting everything in the Mygames > FFXIV Alpha Version folder, which includes... a download folder and two text documents. I was not deleting the Square Enix folder in program files.

Its strange. I have all the folders and info in the Square Enix folder, yet if I don't blow everything up (both in the games folder and in program files), it gives me this error.

Again, I'm just going to wipe everything and start over for the third time, slog through the 13 hour download + installation, and leave it on. It seems to work as long as I never close the program, or it'll simply go back to this version error thing.

Since you can't pick your server and the names of the server are highly likely to change upon release, why against is this relevant?

Now if Cloud or Sephiroth is the names of servers at launch, OK. We'll corrall all the tards there faster than you can say "WoW RP server"
