Alpha/Beta Announcement thread. Next Alpha: ???

I'm having trouble finding the individual client and the patch file. I'm looking in both the FFXIV folder and the Square Enix folder, both which contain different things.

I see two massive folders called Client and Data. both with around 2 gigs, but I don't see matching files in the FFDIV folder in the games section.

I just went and checked my folders to try and help, but it seems SE has changed the way it installs now.

The file I'm talking about is the torrent file in your My Games > FINAL FANTASY XIV Alpha Version > downloads > ffxiv >



In that folder are two more, called 48eca647 and 2d2a390f. Inside those folders are a Path and a metainfo folder.

In the metainfo folder there used to be your actual torrent file, called H2010.05.21.0000 or something similar.

Since the last update though there is a new folder in My Games > FINAL FANTASY XIV Alpha Version > downloads >

The new folder is ffxiv-alpha and contains similar things to the above. None of my files is the original patch though, so I can only assume that installing it removes the patch file you download.

What you will need to do is BEFORE you install it after downloading, find the torrent inside a child folder of the 48eca647 and 2d2a390f type folders that is around 2.6gb and copy that to your desktop. this file will be one of the H2010.05.21.0000 or D2010.05.21.0000 ones.

I know thats not a great explanation, but if it doesn't help I'll try and upload some pics of the folders I'm talking about when I get home. (about to go out sorry)

If this thread hadn't been shitted up with other people talking about stuff that should have been kept to the official SE forums, it would have been easy to find the times. As it stands now, there's about 2 pages of QQing, and 2 pages of Troubleshooting Bullshit that you would have to sift through to find this information.

The Official Alpha forums are filled with no help whatsoever, and people here can actually give coherent responses to issues on this site in what was, last I checked, a thread about the Alpha test.

Where the fuck are the quests anyway? I havent seen any, and talked to every npc I encountered. Unless quest and guildleve are the same thing for now?

From what I understand, your options right now are pursuing the main storyline "quests/missions" and doing guildleves. Remember this is the alpha, only a tiny fraction of the game is implemented, it's narrow scope testing, they're mostly hoping for feedback on gameplay and game systems.

If you've not had any luck following the main storyline, from what I understand where you have to go next is fairly obvious, but I imagine just like FFXI there's a "journal or quest log" that could maybe give you some hints!
