^Guide on how to setup?
Just added:
Condition and Repair of Equipment
Through the natural course of use, all equipment-weapons, armor, and tools alike-will suffer from deterioration and a decline in effectiveness. At the hands of a skilled blacksmith, however, such equipment can be restored to prime condition.
- Do-It-Yourself Repairs
First, ensure that the proper tool is equipped. From the main menu, access the Item List and then Inventory. Choose the item you wish to restore, then click the Repair button to initiate the process.
- Enlisting the Aid of Other Adventurers
From the main menu, access the Item List and then Inventory. Choose the item you wish to restore, then click the Seek Repair button to initiate the process. You may choose to offer a certain amount of gil or an item as payment for the repair.
- Emergency Repairs
Certain NPCs located in city-states can perform emergency equipment repairs upon request. Be warned, however, that the subsequent quality of equipment repaired in this manner will fall short of those worked upon by honest-to-goodness blacksmiths.Configuration
Various game settings can be changed by accessing the Configuration sub-menu. There, players can optimize their play environment by adjusting graphics, sound, camera, and keyboard settings.
I'm kinda liking this an-update-a-day-until-beta-starts trend. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
Fucking finally. :DConfiguration

I don't like the sound of emergency repair. Are they talking about overall quality dropping (like max durability), or they are simply saying it will break a little faster next time (until you fix it for real).
Either way, expect to see many complaint if you have to fix your gears 1 piece at time. >_> We need a repair all button.
I would think that an NPC may only repair it back to a certain %, be it 40, 50, 75%, who knows, where as a player will repair it too 100%.
I can't see SE adding permanent durability loss.
Or NPC will repair it to 100% but the durability will drop faster than usual?
Although your idea sounds more likely.
The "Looking For Repair" thing sounds interesting. Hopefully I can magic beam my weapon into a blacksmith's face in town while I'm out in the field. (Lets' hope this isn't just an icon flag where people can search and I have to answer a tell then walk to the smith in town to get a repair)
P.S. Everyone and their mother is going to be a Blacksmith if they don't divvy up the repairs between crafts. (Blacksmith fixing my wooden bow shouldn't happen)
I'd think it would be like this:
Blacksmith: Metal Weapons
Armourer: Metal Armour
Carpenter: Wooden Weapons/shields?
Weaver: Cloth items
Tanner: Leather items
Goldsmith: Accessories (assuming they even need to be repaired)
There are no other crafting classes right now?
I think blacksmith will serve as an all-around repairer at least until more classes are implemented.
They said we can expect to see more crafting classes in the beta due to the fact that item durability would be in effect, so at a guess I'd say those 5-6 classes will be there.
The Synthesis part of the game manual isn't blacksmith specific, so it could apply to all of those classes.

guess i know what craft i'll be leveling in the beta lololol
anyone else unable to log into the website today? Not sure what happened but every time I try to log in I get this on a white screen
クエリの送信に失敗しました(0): Table 'dev_na_open.ubbt_na_USERS' doesn't existselect USER_ID from ubbt_na_USERS where USER_LOGIN_NAME='MyUserNameIsHere';
And when I try to log in with a different name (not alpha ready) no worky at all with a different error.
Are Alpha Users not allowed into beta?
It says this in my square enix account
FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Test Jun. 9, 2010 --- Basic Account
Jun. 9, 2010 Jul. 9, 2010 Characters
Jun. 9, 2010 Jul. 9, 2010
Damn another week. Here I was hoping it started this week.![]()
Where are you getting another week from? I'm pretty sure "Jun. 9, 2010 Jul. 9, 2010 Characters" has been there for a while, and they just threw in a default ending time for all accounts. Doesn't necessarily mean that that's the date the beta will start.
Edit: Yea, mine began June 14th and ends July 14th.
Yeah I cant log into the site either, but I can log into the game client. But yeah they said alpha users get first try at the beta so I'm sure it'll be fixed.
