I finished the download/update and didn't run into the problem I had last time, where the damned thing would bug out after every first run after a download, so kudos to SE for sorting that crazy shit out.

If you are using windows 7 its under Documents/games/FFXIVbeta/downloads/ffxiv-beta

can I open that ffxivupdater application with utorrent? I opened the lastest patch in that folder, but directing the download path didnt seem to work, do I have to redownload what I already dled with the client patcher?

will it need to be restarted to get to subsiquent pacthes or is the beta just one patch?

2 patches, you only need the one that is 3.35 GB's if you have already updated the patcher.

Make sure DHT is enabled, and yes you will want to point the download to the ffxiv-beta folder.

Thanks for the help jollipop, utorrent is downloading the patch at 400kb/sec and I can limit the upload, before it was going at 10-60kb/sec Ive already downloaded with utorrent in 10 minutes what I had with the client patcher in like 2 hours.

I can't get my utorrent to go over 20 kb/second download D:

on the network part is says

results : speed test failed.

Data send error: a local networking problem closed the connection (10053) my ports are open on the network though

edit: nvm fixed it was firewall ;o

edit 2: thought i fixed it but its giving me the error now again D:

UPDATE: Installation went fine too. The client didn't complain about the downloaded data even tho I used utorrent instead. It just checked it and installed it.

torrent speed: 2.2 MB/s and 68% completed

client speed: 40 kb/s and 8% completed

I started the torrent 1 hour after the client.


I REALLY hope they will use the exact same system for patches in the future. Being able to use utorrent (or any other client then SE's) instead is so much better.

Can someone link the torrent for beta? So I can get a jump on downloading for when I get an invite (lol) or, more realistically, open beta?

the first one b87492037tr538r or w/e anyway the one that starts with B, is the smaller of the two and seems to be a torrent check for the next patch only, the one that starts win D, is the torrent for the beta clinet, which is larger file 3GB~ thats the torrent you want to use.

My download speeds aren't any higher with Utorrent, anything I have to set? Upload is at 5kb and Download is unlimited.

Raise your upload speed.

Yup too low of an upload speed will impact your download speed.

Hours? you seriously need a new computer... just read earlier posts. it's in the "documents" folder and then "games" or "my games" then "FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version" then "downloads/ffxiv-beta/d96437e6/patch"
