The problem with the patcher is that it doesn't do anything to limit your uploads. There are plenty of places in the world that don't have unlimited internet. If I use the official patcher, I upload at about 100k-150bs and download at about 10-15kbs.

If I use a proper torrent client, I download at 100, and upload at 50.

Sure, I could install software to force the patcher not to use my total bandwidth uploading, but if I going to have to use 3rd party software, I'm just going to do it the easy way.

Nothing to do with the ISP limiting. its called ASYMMETRIC Digital Suscriber Line for a reason.

Port forwarding really helped with my DL, not getting any crazy speeds on the S-E client but its acceptable..

I just wonder if everyone is supposed to do this to get high speeds? Might be too much for the normal user without any knowledge about PC's to do. What could SE change to make it dl fast without this port business?

It took me just over 2 hours to fully patch with the stock patcher, whilst running it simultaneously on two computers on the same network at the same time. My PC had upwards of 60 remote/local connections individually. Lay the blame where it belongs if you don't know how to P2P... your torrent program probably just already had the correct ports open by default.

Oh so I guess when a pc is directly plugged into the cable modem and not the router it's still an issue with blocked ports right? Oh wait... Using shitty torrent systems that don't allow you to throttle your upload thus fucking with your downloading abilities is stupid no matter how you try to twist it.

A .torrent file is provided with the updater, use that in your favorite BT client.

Hope the newly required disk space is an indication that other areas will become open to testing. No new mobs were added from alpha-->beta in the download we have now.

There is always a seed or 2 in the torrent cloud that are original servers from Square Enix. These do not require UPnP. Their speed is however laughable.

Your compliant is that they don't limit the upload, which is causing your download to be slow... Sorry that is your connection problem, if I was you, I would use BitTorrent, and put a limit on the upload speed, since it seems your connection does not like 30-50kbs upload....
