tbh, i gave up months ago.. but after seeing this.. i got some hope
So the beta is gonna start off like the alpha with the scheduled times right? Think they'll finally get the logins right? >.>
Who knows.
I can't see it being perfect though, there's bound to be a few mishaps.
With less than 3 months to launch and a very "half-finished" game, this month of july is very very important for SE. why? well it takes a long while to print and distribute it world wide. I would say that the beta version we have at the start of september is the version that will be shipped. and to make changes (serious programming here dudes) it often takes 2-4 weeks. So really, this month is the only month left that actually has any real bearing on the feedback they get from us.
And are the servers up yet? No... is that a good thing? Not really.
I have to be honest and say that the beta test of FFXIV feels more like a ploy to create hype and buzz. The features they added from alpha to beta are not the ones players came up with but instead things they already planned several months ago. (Updated graphics, chat filters and whatnot)
I am not complaining but seriously, this is FFXI-2. Fullscreen-tab-crashes and all.
Dont forget there will likely be a release day patch, so they have basically up till release to make sure everything works as long as they get the main portions of code in time for the dvds/cds to be created.
Ah yes, July > September.. I bet S-E didn't see that one coming. Only 11 months in this year. Damn them leap years.
wtf are you talking about half finished game? I hope to god you don't think that alpha was in proportion to how up to date they were with finished graphics and content because you'd be terribly wrong.
Also, they delayed the PS3 release and it seems likely that the focus is to finish their main platform version and most likely halted porting. It's not entirely impossible. Just wait and see how it goes.
You only have to look at the screenshots of beta info at how detailed the leve system is compared to alpha to realise that the game is much more developed than any tester has seen.
As usual, we are just being kept in the dark about things til the last minute. That doesn't mean though that SE haven't got the game systems all done and are working on tweaking things now.
I imagine their internal testing team is as massive as ever.
It almost looks like SE uses testers to find out the rest of the bugs, stresstest and give their OPINION about the game.
Then SE does what they want, hopefully based on that feedback.
So yeah.. FFXI-2, o noes? Only the game mechanics are different!!1
In all likely hood, the games boxes are already in production and will be done before August, so they have enough time to ship to their destinations. It's guaranteed on launch day, there will be a very large patch. The version that will be shipped will not be the same version on launch day, guaranteed.
You've never experienced a MMO before launch, no?
I should open a crystal ball shop, would sell very well around here.
What does this mean? I don't even.Originally Posted by SquareSoft ; ;

Schedule is up. Same as alpha. Tues/Thurs/Sat, region locked, though it's listed as "every" tues/thurs/sat, starting this Saturday.
They apparently want to keep schedule updates via twitter accounts...
