I see a lot of Elizabethan-era British influence more than anything else.

Alright guys, this thread is now officially shit even with my low standards.
There's no WoW references, so what's left for Ksandra to purge? Heh.
Too late for who? Those who loved FFXI will purchase FFXIV. Those who did not will probably not. Its not too late for anything outside of the patience of those who want to play it before it comes out.
Just sayin'.
Too late for this thread. It might be beyond saving (is it already?) soon!
All you gotta do is get back to speculatin' speculations and you'll be fine.
Well, we aren't talking about Elizabethan era british influence in XIV anymore so I think we've made some progress.
Getting back on track
I'm curious if this behavior to passively follow a player in any way relates to Shepherd.
Are the mobs that have passive aggro behaviors, also coincidentally, the mobs that have obvious genders?
I can't imagine how shepherd could possibly play like. What does it do?
Are there going to be mog houses or something equivalent?
Shepherds will go up to nannygoats and have an ability called 'Squeeze Titties' so that you can gather milk from it.
and you can also herd them around so that conjurers can burn them all down at 1 go
It may use an axe and charm mobs to fight for him.
This^
that would be great if they firgure out a good system that can leand to a new melee class like Beastmaster in FFXI.
It wont work like BST. They've said NUMEROUS times that there will be no definitive pet classes at launch.
From what I've gathered about multiple class guilds so far, these jobs seem to be basic side jobs that work alongside the core jobs like Gladiator, Archer, Pugilist, Lancer, Thaumaturge and Conjurer.
1) Musketeer guild, knights of the barracuda. I went through the opening quest to join the guild and it seems they are just LL's naval force. Keep LL safe from the Sahgin invasion and protect the outlying seas. There were no advancements after the quest was finished and was told to wait to be contacted.
2) Arcanist's guild. From talking with all the NPC's the guild seems to examine all of the ships docking at LL and search them for "contraband" with magic. XIV's customs department it seems.
These 2 guilds so far give me the impression that you'll be doing guild specific leves if you choose to be a Musketeer or Arcanist (provided those are 2 jobs at launch) but not necessarily as a class, more like a side job.
Speculatin' speculation. Thread is back on track.
Currently, there is no Shepherd at launch either!
Anyway, since the "story" quests are named "class quests" it gives me the impression that we'll see different guilds offer leves/quests to do, maybe for storyline purposes.
I'm sure there is a reason for all those guild's and they're not there just for show. Would be a bit pointless otherwise.
I found some spells:

Slow, Banish and others (dunno if already confirmed so far).
