Ugh so many bugs in the alpha, I hope you're reporting them all. Also holy crap lancer attack range is looooong oh and the red dot in the middle of the target is funny.
Spoiler: show
3 more notes about the famitsu interview:
They are considering allowing player bazaars to run even while players are logged out.
Players can participate in the the fighting arena and gambling halls in Ul’dah.
Items can be inscribed like in FFXI.
Loose google translation gave something like this, so yah take it with grain of salt 'till we get a proper translation.
I think that thing about the carriage could only be a mistranslation. How do you translate "horse-drawn carriage" without "horse?" "Drawn carriage" sounds awkward and "chocobo-drawn carriage" sounds informal.
Here's some concept art for you:
Spoiler: show
Alpha is capped at like 30 fps... and no matter how good your system, when you are in populated areas ur fps will drop substantially. The servers just aren't optimized yet, and it has nothing to do w/ your computer spec's. When you do combat away from the main hubs it runs at a nice 30fps w/o any hiccups though.
And yes, lag has improved much over the last few weeks
OFFLINE bazaar's!
Wonder if SE will consider Shopfronts for Players?
Ghost, your new avatar has transformed into Ultra Mega Ghost Avatar Pic!! Nice.
Which is it Dr.Doom or this guy...

Stupid question but has anyone else subscribed to the XIV newsletter and hasn't got anything?
I'm starting to wonder if my ISP blacklisted that and other sites I try to get emails from.
if your wondering because of invites.. easiest way is to just check ur SE account under managed accounts or something like that
does anyone know the email that the square enix newsletter was sent from. i want to add them to contacts so i can get their emails
I've never gotten one either. On topic, can't wait for changes in Alpha 2.
I got a Square Enix newsletter from [email protected] but it's not the XIV specific one.
Just had this info:

I just realized, the invites for alpha 2 are going to be on a MUCH larger scale then for the original alpha. In an interview Tanaka and Komoto there was a question asked about the next test and here is what was written:
Will you move on to the beta phase once you have fully examined the growth rate?
Tanaka: Currently, the alpha test takes place on a single World. The next step is to increase the number of Worlds, which will multiply the number of testers. That will be the start of what we call Beta-1, or perhaps Alpha-2.
