Does anyone know the exact cooldown on potions atm?
P.S. On some mobs in the ghost videos, when he's using cross class abilities they seem to do more damage (depending on the mob) than the core abilities.

Well, at the moment I wouldn't be too critical about damage comparisons like that since we have no clue what level weapon was being used. Same goes for an earlier comment about someone saying his Conjurer was doing 250 damage consistently with his basic attack while a Lancer was doing 150 damage. But maybe the weapon that Lancer had equipped wasn't the best it could have been. Or maybe they just spent their attribute points differently. Most of us will have to wait until we're in game before we can be too sure of details like that. Edit: Misread a little bit. Thought you were comparing the skills used on a different class to the class they naturally come from.
Magic attacks do more damage than melee attacks for people with comparable gear/levels.
Has anyone gotten the tier 2 nukes? Do the first tier spells get stronger as you level? How do they compare to the spirit dart?
Umm...what?

There was no argument, I was answering his post. Maybe you should relax a little?Magic attacks do more damage than melee attacks for people with comparable gear/levels.
SE said long ago when talking about XIV that they like the tank/healer/damage party dynamic. It provides structure and allows for a much more efficient, streamlined strategic element for everyday party activity. If the game is tuned so that group play is largely a cluster of solo players running around gang beating mobs or splitting off to solo packs of mobs while self healing and being topped up by AoE cure bombs, it's going to suck.
Link?http://www.eorzeapedia.com/2009/09/2...komoto-at-tgs/In prior interviews, they talked about how it will be important to set and decide roles during battle. They hint on that again with more information on how classes work. Some classes will be more suited to certain roles than others. For example, some classes might be better at tanking. However, they don’t want players to pigeon hole certain jobs. The goal is to design classes that are flexible. If a player wants to be an attacker, they can set more abilities suited to that. However, if their party needs a tank, they could set abilities for tanking instead and switch roles without switching classes
I meant for the tank/healer/damage dynamic that Aurelius mentioned, not individual roles. As far as I know, SE have never stated they like the healer role for XIV.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but the game was announced a year ago with many press conferences and magazine articles issued since. I'm not in the habit of sorting through a year worth of information to confirm what I already know. If you disbelieve me, that's fine...all will be known when the game goes live. In the meantime, the information I offer is largely of the "take it or leave it" variety.
I'm not taking it the wrong way, and I don't disbelieve you, I just want to know more about this fantastic game that I can't wait to play. Even though I don't like the idea of a healing role this time around, I know there's a possibility you are right.
I was the Lancer in question, and while Fred does have a large amount of his points allocated to INT(160ish now if I remember right), I have a split between STR and VIT(~70 each), and then have been pumping DEX recently(~112 now). I keep my lance updated to the best that I can find, as gil is no object after so many leves. Accuracy for me is the largest problem I've been having, which seems to lead to issues with hate, keeping my HP up, and losing out on a large amount of weapon XP, which put me behind Fred for a while.
Betas usually have increased money generation so people can test more. Don't know if this is the case for XIV, just throwing it out there.
You usually get a couple hundred gil per kill, and leves grant 500-7000gil depending on the level of the leve and a few other factors.
Gear costs 1-7k ish per item depending on level so far. Most level 20 people have bought all their level 20 gear (whats available anyway) and still have 70-100k gil left over.
EDIT: Some pics from today, nothing really new
Spoiler: show
I know I can't be the only one that seen that Roe and thought a white haired Gannondorf.
I know its just alpha, but something seriously looks -off- about FFXIV's distance shots. The graphics just look... strange. Reminds me of like, early 3-D world models, with the almost photo-like objects plastered onto a background.
