Yeah, if you didn't get the email chances are you didn't selected. If you feel something got lost as said check the service on your SE account, if its not there..you're not in sadly. I doubt this 'waves' thing happened again since it's still Alpha and seems only so few got selected, even on the JP end so start praying SE gets their servers stable so more people can get in lol.

I'm all linked up and got in on the first test however a few friends who are more hardcore FFXI players than me that's linked didn't get even so much as a newsletter from SE when it comes to FFXIV despite signing up and filling out an app.

If by that you mean group finder (why must you be so ambiguous? Just tell me) I don't think that is any better solution. Works for some issues, like the wait times, but is not always the answer and has downsides to it.

The issues it solves are far greater than any downsides to the system.

Why do you think that can not be achieved if you have classes with main roles and certain support skills? Everyone will do their thing as planned, and will assist each other when needed. If Thaumaturge can't keep the mobs in check with CC, LNC can throw in some bind or Voke and grab hate that way, instead of a wipe because all he could do is more DPS. If THM doesn't need help, LNC will keep on DD'ing. If CON is too busy curing the tank, LNC can use bloodbath/chakra and regain his HP that way, without having to wait for CON to cure him.

I'm not sure why you think that all mobs are going to hit like such pansies that you're going to be able to have people in damage roles soaking hits and self healing with pansy little solo-enabling cures. We don't know the scope of the curing available to non-caster classes yet but it's a pretty safe bet that barring the "faceroll" content I mentioned previously, you're going to be kitted out to tank or any attention you get from mobs is going to be extremely hazardous for you. That's how MMOs delineate between solo content and group content, not just throwing larger groups of sissy mobs at players to create the illusion of party content.

I'm not saying you have THM and LNC as the CC's with their skils overlapping because they don't know who should do what. THM is the CC, and if the current situation is too much for him to handle LNC can step in for a sec and help. I don't think that would make the encounters 'a mess'.

I've played games with many vs. many and where CC has been necessary and do you know what usually happens when someone who wasn't assigned to CC steps in to save the day? CC breaks down altogether. Not to say it's impossible for someone to step in with a timely save, just that attempting to do so usually creates more harm than good. Idealism doesn't build good MMOs...realism does.

Actually they said clearly that PS3 players won't get access yet. Read that stuff again.

As for what Shuichi said: the stuff you quote is a part of e-mail you get if you applied for the PC beta, not for PS3. Is just a little info for those who applied for PS3 and are waiting. And you have to make a new account if you want to try for both PC and PS3 beta, because you can't sign-in for both on the same account - when FFXIII came out with the special code S-E told people that if they apply the code for PS3 beta, but had applied for PC ver earlier, the PC application gets canceled.

I'm not sure why you think they won't. What mobs lack in damage, they have in numbers. I certainly doubt broken spells like Sleep will be as potent in this game, so you will have to handle more mobs at once than one tank may be able to handle (especially if they hit like trucks like you said).

Not to mention you act like DD's will be such pansies that they can't take hits in this game, especially with few defensive abilities to back them up. You don't know shit about how it will work, and neither do I.

I'm sure those MMO's worked exactly like XIV will. Yeah, I'm aware that there's no way mechanics can differ between MMO's but let's just pretend there's a slight chance that they could.

It's a forum bro, a final fantasy xiv forum. I couldn't think of a better place to share my opinions and thoughts regarding the game.
