Since from the email it sounds like some users won't be able to access the client download until June 2nd I would put that at the earliest possibility. So perhaps Thursday or Saturday/Sunday of next week. It seems 2Chan might be right, or at least not far off.
Apparently there has been some speculation that has been going on for a while over there saying that the Alpha2/Beta1 would start on June 6th. At least from what I've heard.
Not sure what that has to do with anything I've said, but okay. Keep in mind that it was SE who said they like the tank/damage/healer dynamic.
We haven't seen any fights involving the kinds of numbers where you'd need more than one tank yet. We've seen videos of a lot of duos and trios fighting mobs that were tuned largely for solo play, but no "many vs. many" encounters yet.I'm not sure why you think they won't. What mobs lack in damage, they have in numbers. I certainly doubt broken spells like Sleep will be as potent in this game, so you will have to handle more mobs at once than one tank may be able to handle (especially if they hit like trucks like you said).
You're right, but I know what SE has said, which carries more weight than what you think. Not to mention you act like DD's will be such pansies that they can't take hits in this game, especially with few defensive abilities to back them up. You don't know shit about how it will work, and neither do I.
Just on all this, while I'm not going to add my opinion on your argument, while you haven't seen videos that doesn't mean people haven't fought battles with group on group or fights that need more than one tank.
Also, clearly SE intended more than just the "tank" to be taking damage. The two "tank" classes so far are GLD and PUG, and both of them can only wear light to medium armour. LNC and MAR on the other hand can wear heavy armour, so SE are already thinking that they need other ways to mitigate damage.
Group vs group is just chaos for now since players are still learning the system, hate control and most likely lack the abilities required to make it work properly at our levels.
As a reminder to all new people in the alpha test.
Be careful of what screenshots and videos you upload!
Just because you think you've removed all signs that point to you, or you just think you're too good to get caught, there is a chance Square Enix will find out who you are and get you banned. While we all enjoy leaks (and I know people will keep leaking), make sure you know what you are doing before you start leaking content.
I know I've greatly appreciated all the leaked content so far, be aware that your alpha/beta access could be taken away if you are found out.
I honeslty had no idea the conversation was even going to head in this direction. I responded to someone who asked about the future of tank/damage/healer shenanigans and all of a sudden someone is jumping on me for...stuff. I still don't know exactly what their problem is. Of course, nor do I care.
I've never heard of the .dat modif... but it's a very simple change by using Artmoney and looking for your name.
Anyway the whole leaking thing died after the 2nd test.![]()
I had a friend who canceled his FFXI account awhile ago and got in so looks like they are letting people in that don't have an active account.
Do these invites trickle in or have they all been sent out by now? I don't remember if the first wave was trickily or not... I want to stop looking at my inbox![]()
I know the pics on the official site look like plate, we were all scratching our heads as well when we realised Glads couldn't wear heavy armour.
Since then I got to 20 on my PUG and equipped new gloves, I posted the pics up a couple of pages back. The gloves look like they are plate armour but they are just medium gloves with a metal finish.
I'm wondering now if those pics of the glad in plate armour on the site are just medium armour that looks platish like those gloves do.
after looking at the pics again I can totally see where this is a definite possibility.
Finishing armor with a metal or leather would be available for PUG/ARC/GLD while heavy armor finished in Mythril or ??? would be available for LNC/MAR.It's speculated that SE has a reason behind this, in that GLD utilizes a Shield which serves as the main focus of their damage mitigation. LNC and EXC have no type of damage mitigation so they were given the obvious choice to have Heavy armor to protect them.
That has me PUMPED if I can (as an ARC) use Medium armor finished in Plate.
That's right, I did...I forgot about that part. You were talking about MP and such and how that would impact healing. See, here's the problem I have...SE has already addressed that, too. So you're not speculating...you're being ignorant. And you're casting dispersions my way out of your ignorance, and that's not really what I'm here for. And since I'm learning from hard fought experience that encouraging people to inform themselves is largely a waste of time, I'll leave it at that.
