Ill pass it along, but doubt thats it. Never gets that far, crashes as soon as it opens and hes tried several reinstalls.

Can glads or archers move around or kite while using abilities without getting interrupted or animation locked?
I had the same problem (on vista though) when I installed it on a second machine. Kind of seems like something in the update process has changed. I used the same install file to install on my win7 machine like a month ago and it installed and when I ran the desktop shortcut it updated fine. Last week I installed on the vista machine and get the same crashing your friend had. My fix ("SquareEnix" I think) was I just copied the ff14 folder from Program Files on the win7 box over top of the folder on the vista and it started up fine.
Alright, here's a question that always annoys me in just about every MMO:
How many default, base, stock (Read: NORMAL) attack animations does each race/sex have with a default weapon. For example, on average, FFXI had three per weapons. Swords typically had a slash in both directions and a thrust. Lances had two pokes and a swipe.
I've always wanted to see a MMO (its been done in some RPGs, much to my delight - Legend of Legaia, for example) that tacked on extra attack animations as your character increased in levels. Yes, its fluff, and when compared to things like new flashy spells or the next dungeon to camp 24-7, its probably not that important. But I feel that it's just another way of the game displaying that your characters are, in fact, becoming stronger and better fighters, and not simply hitting for more damage each level.

Can't wait to make my little thaumaturge next week!
Can someone translate this quote from Tanaka? It says something about FF14 Opening i think:

"What a busy day! Oh, and XIV will be released in October, btw."
..j/k, I dunno!
Well my Roegadyn had only a slashing attack and while I didn't pay much attention to him, I don't think his animation changed aside from crits. And there's only one type of normal hit, or is there an option for piercing/slashing types of physical attacks?
However, I think Gladiator that has slashing and piercing attack uses different animation for both, which look like you'd "slash" or "pierce" the mob.
I remember hearing that all classes would get access to more damage types as they rank up though, just on different stages.
I'm thinking the surprise will be a new trailer or Life in Eorzea" #2.Examiner.com is reporting that the latest Famitsu issue features a preview of E3, complete with questions of several publishers about their plans. And what of Square Enix? According to Examiner.com, Square Enix will not be holding a press conference (boo), but does have a surprise in store (yay). E3 runs from June 15-17 – so not much longer to wait for the surprise to be revealed. Here’s hoping that it’s FFXIV related.
