Hawt...
I'll admit I never understood the roleplay crap. All I care about in MMOs is killing shit.
I change the way I talk and even act depending on my character. I don't say the same things in person. I also always have a back story and motivations for my character. Most of the time its so subtle people don't even know it, all the times any has noticed it, they usually start to play along.
Roleplaying doesn't mean you have to walk around saying "Ye olde Galka of mightyth girth, how doth thou fare this morrow, wouldist thou come to me olde wedding? For I am of manyth olde moons of my 75th olde season".
It's unfortunate that most people only say "lol, toon, loot". I roleplay and still find time to fit in with the rest of the game, meaning min/max subjobs, gear, food, strategies, etc.
I think a lot of people roleplay. Theres no way some of the people you talk to would act the same way in person. The anonymity provided by the internet means people are rarely themselves when online and playing a game.
It was pretty prolific at least in JP mithra macros. If I never see another sentence end in nya...
[e] Nya is the sound cats make in Japanese, and women have the option of ending sentences with a feminine-associated "wa" sound, which this nya replaces.
Some of the coolest people are RPers, but of course the general populace looked down on it and anyone who does it. FFXI was unfriendly RP wise because of the "lol wtf? Get that shit out of my game" type of people that floods the game. Never knew it was so bad to want to RP in an RPG o.o
I think I'd rather hang out with people who RP than people who are hardcore anti-RPing.
I don't necessarily RP, but I do like consistency in my storyline and I will occasionally make a few comments or take stances based on what I think my character would feel. For instance part of why I was always anti-Elvaan in FFXI was because the Elvaan NPC's are racist bitches and so they were going to get that back.
I don't mind people who RP if it's in a social setting, but I had a party once with a guy who refused to run places because it was unrealistic and his character wouldn't do it. Shit was so annoying. There was another person who talked in...I dunno what it was, elvish or something. Couldn't understand what the fuck they were doing either.
RP'ing is fun, but it can be a little detrimental to game play, there's a time and a place. I often don't get involved or in character, but I enjoy the story and settings as much as I would a single player RPG.
I put on my robe and a wizard hat!
Who do you think main healing will be handled by? There still should be a job that has a higher mind stat, or is more proficient at healing. Thaurmaturge isnt likely so that leaves conjurer, the dat mined mystic and archanist (if they are the other mage jobs).
I wonder if any of the mele jobs get a healing spell like AoE or drain HP abilitys I think that would be cool.
yeah but I want my marauder to ge a skill like Drain HP that the bats use on me, they drain like 40HP in one shot its a very powerful ability and would go along way while continously fighting enemy NPCs....its probably turned the tide in more than a few battles, damn wing rats!
Marauder already has bloodbath to gain HP back (which is supposedly overpowered) I don't see why you would need/want more.

this is a picture I made !@#$%ng around with adobe, notice the pie with a crown has checked higher than IT
That pie gives me a serious case of the wtfs every time I run across it in my files. :\
Every officially released class (Thaumaturge, Conjurer, Gladiator, Marauder, Archer, Lancer, Pugilist) has a healing or drain ability of some kind except for Archer according to the .dats. And I'm guessing that's because it's drain is related to ammo rather than an ability, e.g. bloody bolts.
