I'd have to ask and get back to you lol.
Edit:- you can cast on others, not just party members.
Honestly I hope they are still working on the Battle Regimen because the part about it being automated(at least to my understanding) kind of turned me off.
I thought Skill chains in XI were really interesting and probably the most active part of that battle system. You had to consider your party setup and mob weaknesses prior to battle for optimal results. New SCs may have been created on the fly or by accident. There was also active communication in preparation for the SC.
In XIV they are taking away auto attack to give the game a more active feel. So to make Battle Regimens automatic seems kind of backwards to me.
Okay so from what you said, what makes you think you can't do those things with the Regimens?
I doubt the game decides the "optimal setup" for you to use based on what you're fighting and your party setup, nor that you can just make a regimen without asking others first if they have enough TP/are positioned correctly and so on.
I don't mind it being automatic (like a trigger effect) it would be better than having a failed skillchain because someone wasn't paying attention or just couldn' grasp the concept of timing it properly.
That being said I'm not sure I like the idea of the patry leader getting the choice when to use it.
I think it makes sense that party leader would be the one to "lead" the regimen.
It definitely wouldn't work in XI since only the designated melees and BLM if there happens to be one tend to do the Skillchains, so if your leader wasn't participating in the SC it wouldn't really work like this.
But from what we have gathered everyone can take part in the Regimen, and it will probably be more beneficial to do so since the more people that participate, the stronger the effect will be (Iirc). That way it doesn't matter what the leader's class is.

Name is hex edited
That's not what I meant. In the description of the Battle Regimen it says that the leader initiates it and the abilities go off automatically. It also says something like if one person doesn't have tp or their ability misses, it continues on to the next person.
So its kind of limiting the possibility of human error. It just seems to take out some of the coordination and chemistry between players that made XI enjoyable to me. But who knows, maybe I'll be surprised.
I still think there will be room for discussion on what set up to use, we don't even know if they will have the same effect as a skillchain or whether it will just be a bonus based on the executed skills.
So if you can hex-edit the names like that why has nobody made a live stream ?
The only change I see is that you no longer have to time your skills for the regimen to work.
However, the combat system has seen some substantial changes, and the normal fight won't consist of everyone standing at the same spot beating one monster until it or the party dies.
If the combat requires us to pay attention to more things than just when to trigger the weapon skill or spell, I think it was a thought out decision to make things automatic when it comes to regimens. We'll probably have enough things to take care of that we won't be able to pay much attention as to when is our turn to do a specific skill.
Remember that it's not just something 2-3 people do but when there are 6, or up to 15 players doing the regimen the chance for using it at the wrong time or in the wrong order is significant. In XI it was more often done by just two DD's and a mage so the correct order wasn't that important to remember. You just had to know if you went first or second.
Damn I didn't even think about a 15 man regimen, thats guna be awesome.
Last minute smithing before server down.
No more set it and forget it for synthesis?
(or bot it and forget it)
Spoiler: show
Contrary to what some people think, the testers are not obliged to provide you with anything. A live stream is only going to complicate the lag issues people are already facing, and in the end your going to spend plenty of time watching the person do not very interesting things, like wandering around, crashing, attempting to log back in, waiting for the server to go back up, crashing, logging in again.
Why would you bother?
I really enjoyed the crafting video, when different commands were chosen there was different effects like sparks coming off of the orb thingy. I thought that was neat. Really, really like the crafting, so much interaction involved.
I wonder why the leve fails if you d/c.. that's pretty much the biggest problem I see with it right now.
Maybe they haven't been able to make it so you can continue the leve if your connection with the server is lost, and we'll see it change during Beta.. or maybe it's intentional? Can it be abused somehow?
Also, I'm getting mixed messages here. Spira had said earlier that other people can't see others leve mobs, but according to a post on last page you can indeed see them, but you just can't attack them. Hmm.
Firstly most of the lag is created by the servers not the users connection, why would I bother, for the same reason all those people watched Pooky on day one, same reason I watch the videos posted here, because I want to see what going on.
There is no reason to be so high and mighty about it, I was asking a simple question.
Battle Regimen fail 1

Note the extra 'Puncture' meter on top, (0:31) commands probably have to be stacked and such..
Lag made it too confusing, plus I think they were both trying to start it at the same time.
If you've seen the other ARC vids you understand why he spammed at the end..
From the way SE wrote it in the manual it sounds intentional. I assume it has something to do with it being timed, and logging off could be abused in some way no doubt.
I couldn't see peoples leve mobs in the last test, but I could in this one. Not sure if it was an intentional change, or maybe just lag? It seemed to be causing some issues, because a number of people were complaining about there not being enough mobs to complete thier leve at one point.
Did you remove the failed BR video, or is my phone failing? Guess ill check it when I get home![]()
